Tonight I was finally able to get my old girl home and into the garage. The garage was still full of remnants from other projects, but I felt that it was time to at least get her inside. She was drug the 1/4 mile home with a chain, and my buddy Matt steering by jamming the steering wheel back onto the stripped column. She was pushed inside and the tools we hauled down to storage to get her moving were piled up on the back hatch.
The first order of business was to remove the whole front doghouse, including the front bumper cover, the fenders, and the hood. This little process included having to remove the ground effects to get at the lower fender bolts, and part of the interior to get at the rear ground effect bolts.
My buddy Adam helped out TONS that night and we pretty muched demo'd anything and everything we could get a wrench on. We worked for about 2-3 hours and got her down pretty far. Most of the bolt on items under the hood were gone, as well as a lot of the interior and anything else we could get at.
Removing all of this gave me a good close look at the damage behind the front bumper cover. It had been covered all of those years so I never really knew how bad it was. The front bumper bar had obviously bent and crushed the 2 mounting loops on the back of it (as designed to do). It had also bent up the front frame horn mounting tabs pretty good, but other than that, it was all pretty clean of damage.
As the night came to a close, parts were pretty much laying everywhere, but we had gotten a lot of work done. The interior still needed to be removed, as the odor eminating from it was beyond description. The doors, hatch and tons of other small things were still on the list of "need to do's" for that weekend and much more was to come.....
