Well, the hood finally decided to rust through. I had found a new fiberglass hood for reasonable money, but through a little research, discovered that it was made for a coupe. I have a sedan. So, I decided that I would put the more attractive (in my opinion, at least) coupe nose on my sedan.
Here are those pictures:
This pic is its last day in the garage with the sedan front end.

The cops and vendors got a kick out of these.

The bumper cleaned up, and ready to get stripped.
This is where things get fun. We got ourselves to the point where it was time to line up the fenders, fix a few dents, and make sure things were going to fit right. Sure was a good thing we did. This is ANYTHING but a bolt on deal. The fenders have a body line that the rest of the car does not have. So, with a little bit of creativity, we'll make it work. The lower mouldings are all different, and the lower contour of the fender is different. The front door won't open if you mount it "right." So, I'll take more pics as the work progresses, but as of today (01.16.2008), this is where the car is at.
These next two pictures show how far off the body line makes it.
These next pictures how the work to correct the body line problem.
UPDATE FOR 01.18.2008
UPDATE 01.28.2008
I'm gonna give you the story on these fenders. A couple of the guys have laughed at this already. But, they are strong, and shouldn't be coming apart any time soon. Just gotta hope the car never gets front end wrecked. You also get a preview of the color the car is going to be.
The story on the fenders is pretty crazy. The lower moudlings for a two door are vastly different. So, what we did was cut the lower portion from the four door fender, and secure the sedan molding to it. Then, we cut off the lower portion of the sedan fender, and secured the moulding to that. It looks a little funny, but it'll work just fine. Here's the pics:

Here is a preview of the color I chose for the car. I think it will end up looking good, though I'm a little nervous about it all of a sudden.

We got the car cleaned up, taped, and masked as far as we could go with it tonight. It goes in the paint booth tomorrow morning right away. I'll take pictures as the car progresses, and try to up them tomorrow night. Here is the car as it sits right now.

OK...today was HUGE. It did get in to the paint room today, and it isn't blue anymore. Here are those pictures.
I've started to put the car back together, and right now, it is reassembled from the front doors on back. Note the now body colored mirrors. That's a little touch that I'm especially proud of. I think it turned out nicely.
