Oil Catch Tank...OOooOOo..shiny!
S14 seats, straight bolt in swap...much better!
More supportive than S13 seats..more comfortable too!
Also, when I got my car and silvia conversion I somehow received one black headlight (drivers) and one chrome headlight (passenger). I didn't care too much for having a car with one black eye, so I baked it and painted it.
Chrome housing headlight - Before -
Black housing headlight - After -
All together now!
If you should ever want to bake you headlights here is how to do it. First of all, take the headlights off. Disassemble them completely. Keep in mind this can only be done with headlights made of glass....not plastic. After you have all the bulbs, lighting harnesses, clips, and any possible screws off you are ready to start baking. Set the oven to about 275 degrees. I did mine at 300 for about 10 minutes, but that was a little too hot. Some of my thin plastic got soft. Anyhow, make sure when you put the headlight in there you have ALL metal clips taken off already. Leave it in there for about 8-10 minutes and then carefully remove with some old oven mits or rags. The black glue that holds the glass lens to the plastic housing will be hot, and VERY sticky. If you get this on something it will pretty much stay there. I ruined two good oven mits....damn! Also, I got some of the black sticky glue on the front of the headlight lense and it took me FOREVER to get it all off and clean again...as you can see in the pics above. Back on topic, After you remove it pull on only the glass as the plastic will be soft. Take it apart carefully...the black goo will try sticking all over the place. Once you get it off take out the two screws holding the backing plate in place. It also has to speed clip style pegs opposite the screws, just pull a little and they will come out. Sand it and paint it. Then put only the glass piece back in the oven and get it nice and hot again...same procedure...not as long though. Then take it out and press it back onto the housing. Put the metal clips on while the piece is hot so it will hold the two halfs tight until the goo cools and bonds again. Voila! Now you have a headlight with a backing color of your choice.
Well, now I am back up to date and so are you. Watch for lots more mods coming soon. I still have guages to install, electronics, and starting on suspension!
Another engine bay shot. As of 01/21/06.
