So I got a little lazy between here and there and it has been quite cold out. I did decide it was time for me to learn how to, and finally install my Blitz turbo timer. Is is the DTT-DCII model in silver. I will now show you how to install the Blitz DTT-DCII into your 240sx. This is a pretty simple and straight forward install unless you are just intimidated by electrical systems. I am, and decided to give it a try and am pleased that I did. I no longer have to sit in my car for 2-5 minutes after driving it and wait for that shit to cool down the turbo.
Here is the unit I am installing. Blitz DTT-DCII pictured with optional harness.
This is the control module I can mount anywhere.
First I took out the center console. To do this you will have to remove the shifter and the trim piece. Trim piece is of course attached with speed clips and just pulls off. Unscrew the shifter and then remove the screws holding in the console. My car only has 4 screws for some reason, but I think there are supposed to be 6.
This is a quick shot of what I had to work with. You might have longer wires or no harness at all. I got pretty lucky and just extended the e-brake wire. The rest is pretty much plug and play with the exception of the ground wire...but how hard is that?
I decided to unplug my "Silvia" light up din panel, and utilize it's clamp style connectors. I dont know what they are called, but you can see them in this picture at the end of the black and green wires. They are quick and prevent you from having to actually cut the wire(s). I will buy more and reconnect my light later since I think it is a pretty cool mod....just too cold and lazy to drive to auto zone and get some.
This is the wire I will clamp into with said "gator connector" and run to the purple wire on the back of the turbo timer control module.
This is the plug under the steering column that you have to disconnect and plug the harness into. Simple!
Another shot....you can see fatty wires and then the harness with the black sheath on it, just to the left of my hand with the big white plugs on them.
Me extending and getting ready to wire up both of the grounds.
This is where I end up grounding both of them. Look for red text. One is ground on one of the shifter bolts and the other is ground on the bolt closest to the e-brake as illustrated. I will get a better pic when I rip out my grey carpet in favor of black.
See...all nice and clamped...no cuts, no hassle.
This is where I think it will look good for now until I get the guages in and my setup the way I really want it.
And here is finished product ladies and gentlemen!
and voila!....there you have it.
