I of course will be working on the car, since naturally I have the day off. I will start removing the diff tonight when I get done updating this. For this update I have to back date a little cuz I have been to lazy to get on here and upload the latest pics. On or around January 30th I installed the plate adapters for the 6.5"'s I purchased. This will allow me to install 6.5" speakers in the door instead of just the 4x6" plate they came with from the factory.
These are the ebay adapter plates.
This is the stock 4x6" plates which are heavy and bulky.
So I of course removed the door panel which is so freaking easy I shouldn't have to give you a run down but I will. There is a screw in the door on the far front upper section where it meets the dash. Pop the plastic cover it uses to hide itself and take it out. Remove the one in the plastic door handle. Grab the bottom edge of the door and slowly/gently pull. Most of the door is held on with speed/push clips. If you have manual windows remove the window roller down handle thing. If you have electric, then unplug them and pull out and up.
Note: The drivers side power window bezel is always a PITA to remove for me, be careful not to break or force it to much. As for the passenger side be sure to remove the door handle by taking out the upper screw and rotating it until it comes out.
This is my naked door.
I decided to run a small bead of RTV silicone around the outer edge and bolt holes to help secure it and stop any vibrational noise. So far so good.
Put it in place and screw that shit down yo!
Speakers in place and waiting for power.
I decided to wait a few hours to let the sealant get tacky and form a better seal. All in all I think it worked out pretty well.
So now I have speakers again in front and rear. I am much happier that when I just had rear. I can actually hear the vocals and dont feel so ghetto anymore. Although I dont want an elaborate system I would like to make a custom enclosure for my trunk. That will be at a much later time probably.
I am almost up to date again...just one more thing....Page 11. Please proceed...haha.
I realized this page doesn't have enough pics on it so here are a few more.
This was a pic was a little dark, but still real cool.
This pic is more to showcase the 4x4 abilities of my Nissan.
I will be ordering my coilovers in the next week if all goes well. I am a little undecided on which way to go. I have been heavily debating between KTS Beta's and the recently introduced STANCE coilovers. The design on both is very close it seems. Both are beefy as hell, and are dual adjustable in both ride height and also dampening abilities. The Stance setup includes the same 8/6kg spring rate as the KTS, but also includes an additional 9/7kg set of springs as well. This give you the ability to change to 9/7 for more aggresive track days, or step back down to 8/6 for daily driver days. This is probably the exact method I will follow.
Here are links for both.
