Here is pics of my Engine bay and Cab part of the Project Mayhem
Here is my engine bay before I did the BD
This is my relocated Abs unit
Here is my relocated computer
This is the main harness that goes in on the Drivers side and must be relocated if you are to tub it for a 20. It was a nightmare trying to clean the factory crap off it and to make it look nice.
This is the Pass side firewall, Big hole huh, Well as you can see i Had too elimnate the A/C and heater because of the BD and I shaving the firewall for 20s or maybe 22s I left some room for them just in case.
Welded up
You can see my fake 20 atop of my little 16s, Hey i had to mock up a 20 some how since i dont' got em yet.
This is the Driver side with wires golure
I used a Part of a Wheel Barrel, Next time Id go with half of a Trailer tub, but this wheel barrel worked fine.
Here is my mock up of my 20 again, Hey i roll sheet metal dubs!!!
Sealed up both sides and painted them
ON to the cab:
Time to strip the paint to the metal and draw the lines were the cab needs to be cut.
Let that Air Craft Paint remover Eat the paint up.
This is some good stuff, but man it is very toxic, and if you get it on your skin it burns. It strips paint well but you got to clean it off the metal good because when your welding it freaks the welds out. So i suggest just use A wire wheel.
I started the cuts on the back of cab first I prob did a thousand measurments before i cut.
Then cut front floor and firewall
Near the pedals were a pain to cut, i removed the gas pedal but left the brake system alone.
Pass side cut and rasied 3 inches, I cut more towards the center of floor so that way I could lay the filler plates down and angled, so it is not too much of a step when you get in the truck. Cutting along the sides were not fun because the cab mounts kept getting in the way, This part was nerve racking.
This is the Driver side/Ext Cab thank God for the third door it made it a little easier to get too inside the cab
The cab is lowered down 3 inches and everything was aligned and tacked up. This part was the hardest because everything had to line up right
The plates were made and everything is fully welded up. This stage took the longest, hours and hours of welding took place. Thanks Mike For the kick ass welds.
The back part of the driver ext cab
The driver side plate builing and welding took forever to do, figuring out everything and seeing if the pedals will it and welding up the tub was all a big project.
this is the drivers side primered, you can kinda see what i was saying on laying down the plate so it is not too much of a step
Back pass side of ext cab
Inside look at floor and firewall pass
Everything is sealed up and preped for the line-x
Thanks to LINE-X of New Mexico 505-527-0777 the entire inside front firewall, entire floor and back cab and roof was all sprayed in Line-X. I figured this will give a good seal and help some on the road noise. I will put carpet inside but for now i roll line-X. This stuff is kick ass and Chris at Line-X of New Mexico knows what he is doing.
