:::INTRO:::

13sDatsun510's 1979 Datsun 510 Port McNeill, BC - 99

I bought this car back in May of 2005 and it was trashed and forgotten. Slowly Ive been fixing it up so its road legal and safe, aswell as modding it into a insane creation but I wont get into that just yet. It has the original L20B 4cylinder 2.0L 1952cc engine matted to the a 5speed, that wasnt original, car came with an automatic I belive. The interior was a mess when i had gotten it, previous owner punched the rear window out, so I had tons of glass everywhere the back seat was unbolted and just tossed in, front seats were stained ripped faded. I made half-assed covers for them till I can afford a set of racing seats an harnesses but thats getting ahead of myself.

The engine has a mild dress up kit nothing major untill I can get a hold of one of the previous owners to figure out what he did when he had swapped the tranny to see if he did any motor work. The ehxaust that came with it was about a foot of 1 3/4" piping to a cat then a cherry bomb...then nothing else, Ive purchased a Tuned Performance muffler for it 9" canister with a 4.5" tip...wanted that ricer look and sound for the hell of it till I do an engine swap, wow I like to spoil suprises...oh well.

Interior has been worked over about 2-3 times since purchased, first was recovering the seats an just painting plastics, redid the dash a couple times before I got it how I liked it. Now Ive gutted it right out got rid of all the rust have been primering soon to be sealing an painting then laying down new sound proofing and gonna figure out something about carpet. I plan to fiberglass a new dash and stereo enclosure in the trunk, ive bought all new gauges aside speedometer and fuel gauge and have been making a new gauge wire harness for it all that utilizes the original clips to make it a clean installation....very hard when you have no car manual and some electrical knowledge but I feel confident I did it right.

As for the exterior I havent done much to it, the rims are 14" Cragar 320 series that came with it...they look alright I just dont like them that much. The paint is a metallic gunmetal silver the previous owner did a crappy job with, I plan to paint it a Hot Rod Flat Black till I can get it into a better location to actually paint it a real colour, still not sure what the final colour will be. When I got the 510 the grille remained untouched an original and at first I liked it but slowly I wanted a more agressive look and better air flow through to the engine, so I sawed out the silver insert pieces and left just the *Honeycomb* frame and I must say it made one hell of a diffrence.

!!!UPDATE!!!

I am in the process of purchasing a new engine, itll be a salvage block that Ill just slowly rebuild. Not to sure on size i think a small block 289/302/305/350/383 will be nice but will see what I find and whats in good shape, hopefully will post pics.
