1994 Suzuki Swift Sedan
has been sold (September 2005)

Update: Has been bought back (November 2006)

This is my 1994 Firefly that I first bought back in September 2003 (my first car). The first thing I ever did to it was put in a used blaupunkt deck, an alpine 1000w amp and two 500w orion 12" subs in a box that we had to kick to get in the trunk. It pounded pretty good for being old beaten equipment, they were in the car for about 3 months. In march 04 I put in a 160w pioneer deck because the blaupunkt deck died, the subs and amp were also returned to their owners. May 04 is when the first single deck wing went on, thought it looked great at the time, it was on there till winter 04 when I bought a bigger double deck wing for which I had custom side pieces made (copied from the first aluminum wing you can buy in NFS-U2) for the next spring. Also, over the course of 2004 I did some small ricer things like install strobe lights, paint the single cam's valve cover, and modified the crappy stock intake, oh, and of course, added the fart can.

On October 9th 04, I took the car to street legal night at Shannonville motorsports park and ran a pitiful 18.3 sec on the 1/4, but I was happy because I beat a VW bug. In November 04, after doing donuts in a parking lot with McD's trays under the rear wheels, the old 1.3L SOHC decided to run like crap from then on. But as luck would have it, I ran into someone who saw me race at Shannonville, he said he had a motor I might want to buy. It happened to be the 1.3L DOHC GTi motor I was looking for but never thought I was going to find in good shape. So, I bought the motor, tranny, new axels, harness and 2 ecu's for $400 CAD and in December 04, over a weekend we put it in. It ran great, much faster than before, I wasnt afraid to pass people anymore.

At the end of march 05 I put on the big double wing that we made and started replacing some rusty parts, such as the hood and gas door. April 05, parked in my friends driveway behind his truck. We had built a raft for the annual river race ( www.floatyourfanny.ca ) and wanted to test the raft, so we threw it into the back of his truck and backed out of the driveway (not able to see out the back window). We smashed into my firefly at about 35 kmh with a 98 chev 1/2 ton w/ trailer hitch. The hood, bumper cover, headlight, cornerlight, bumper light and rad rupport were damaged. So, that night we headed out to the junkyard and scooped all the parts we needed...... which were red of course. This started the flat black transformation of the car. I later went on to replace all four doors and trunk lid and finish the flat black. (rusted out)

April 2005, first time at shannonville with the DOHC. First run, blew the clutch, but not bad enough to stop me from driving home, no timeslips tonight. May 05, second time at shannonville (stock motor in stock car) ran 17.03 at around 85mph, my best of the night. Later that month, I had full 2 inch exhaust with magnaflow cat put on and installed a centerforce clutch and civic coilover springs. July 05, on my way home from scheduling my e-test the tranny popped, hosing down my centerforce with 80w90 synthetic gear oil. August 05, found new tranny to get me by from a 3cyl metro, retarded long gearing in it, 3.89 FD I believe. put the car back together and got it e-tested, passed with flyin colours. Two weeks later in august 05 the RF wheel bearing took a crap so I took it home and thats where it sat waiting to be fixed. Ended up buying a 1990 civic cx with a b18a in it, so to help pay for it I sold the firefly to my kid neighbour who never finished fixing the car. It sat in his yard until October 2006, when a friend of mine bought the car to put the motor in his 97 hatch, but we decided it was best not to because his car was OBD-2.

November 2006, bought the car back minus the white rims and some parts and labour for my buddy for $300, no wing on it now and will probably stay off. Since then I have bought the wheel bearing it needs which is waiting for dust seals to be installed. I plan on resurfacing the flywheel and cleaning the clutch further as it never grabbed right after it got sprayed down. I have installed the Swift GT rally chip and she pulls nicely to 8000 rpm. I also plan on giving it a nicer coat of flat black, "de-ricing" the whole car, and more suspension work to do some road racing at CSCS at Toronto motorsports park and maybe some Solo2 events. New pics still to come.....

Update: 01/21/07 -
Bought parts car, '93 Swift 1.6L sedan. will be stripping it of its seats, door panels, dash w/ factory tach, suspension, brakes,, wheels, hood, bumpers, and hopefully the windshield, all for install on my car. Will be selling the 1.6L SOHC w/ auto tranny and all wiring and mounts. Car will then be scrapped.

Update: 02/18/07 -
Parts car has been stripped and scrapped. Waiting for warm weather to install it all. Still have the motor and tranny for sale, $150, has blown head gasket. No wiring harness.

Update: 03/21/08 -
The swift is no more, had nowhere to store it and traded it to a friend for a D15B vtec w/ tranny and the turbo/header/downpipe for it. Car ended up in a demo derby in Sept 07 and I have not seen it since...

Before I bought it I did the same thing. Slash everyone else who test drove it in cobourg. I saw so many people ripping it around. But no it runs like a champ still, I've only put 25k on it in 4 years. I see that you only ran a 17.3, I took my moms yaris to shannonville last summer and ran a 16.89. Funny eh. See ya around, buddie.
