I do race once in a while, when I'm in the mood (or when the other people on the road are:-) (and, of course, when I make it out to Mexico). This is my record so far.
And a little advice for all you people that take the "ricer's" way out...shut up. Every time I have beaten someone with my Taurus, they seem to point out that there is something wrong with their car, such as larger rims, bad tires, and so forth. If you have something wrong with your car, DON'T RACE IT! And if you do race it, and you lose, have the balls to admit that the other guy (or gal) is better. If your gonna say "the only reason I lost is 'cause I got huge rims," either don't race it, or TAKE OFF THE DAMN RIMS. If I were to race a Bugatti Veyron, he'd win beacuse he's got a faster car. I wouldn't say that "Oh, I lost 'cause I only got 6 cylinders and you got 16, plus 4 turbos." That's a no brainer. Race people that you can actually either beat, or at least hold your own against. If you race someone that is faster than you, admit that you lost cause his (or her) car is better, not that there is something wrong with yours.

Wins:
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
-> Dodge Neon Coupe. I pulled up to a light next to a little neon with taillights and a muffler. Didn't think he'd want to race, but I was ready if he would. The light turned green and he took off quick to get around the car in front of hime, then he shifted hard from 1-2, so I punched it while still in first. By the end of first gear, I had about 2 cars on him, so I cut out. He gave up pretty quick, just stayed about 1 car behind my in the next lane.
-> '00+ Grand Am GT. Took him pretty easily from a stop by the end of second gear (65-70 mph). Had about 2 cars on him. Then i shifted out of gear and started coasting. He tried to pass, so I shifted into third and took off again.
-> Late model Impala (not sure what trim model, not an SS). This one was from a dig. I took him pretty easily. When he cought up to me, he had his window open and was pointing at his oversized rims. Okay, I forgot to mention that his fairly new Impala got beat by a 13 year old Taurus in desperate need of a tune-up, despite the fact that he had large rims.
->Early '90s Supra Turbo. This was from about a 25-35 mph roll. I put quite a few car lengths on him pretty quickly, but he has a bad clutch and I'm fairly certain that he let off shortly after I put 3-4 carlengths on him. Still, I have a 3400+ lb. NA V6 sedan that had a full trunk and a passenger vs. his turbo I6 Coupe.
-> Raced the Supra again, after he got a stage 2 clutch installed. Well, I beat him again, by about a car length by 60mph or less. I was surprised. He still has not-so-good tires on the back and completely roached them off the line, but I held off flooring it until he caught traction, and I had a passenger in the car again. I was pulling on him a little, then went to shift into third and missed it (mostly due to the stock throw-out-bearing). But if I had shifted to third, I would have really started to pull on him. He had to slow down when I was shifting towards third, since there was a mini-van in his way...
-> Mid 90's Civic. This was just fun to play with. We were both on the highway (side by side) and he sped up. I got behind him since there was a car in front of me. We both got off the highway and I sped past him, then let off. I waited for him to catch up again and we both went. I put a lot of cars lengths on him (15+), partially due to traffic.
-> Same Civic as above, again. I pulled out from my work and saw him coming up behind me. I think he recognized me, too, 'cause he did a ricer fly-by. I just casually followed him and then, a couple miles later, we both turned right (alright, I was following him). After I had turned, he was about seriously 10-15 cars ahead of me. I casually accelerated till about half-way through second. Then I floored it and caught up to and passed him by 100 mph. He did have mods, nothing serious though.
-> Same Civic, Two more times...
-> '00+ Chevy Silverado single cab short bed. This was from a 35 mph roll. I had a bad fuel filter and horrible MAF, not to mention the oil in my plug wells. I probably beat him by 1 carlength, maybe a little more.

Losses:

-> Late 90's GTP coupe. This was about a week after I got the car. I'm pretty sure the GTP had some mods, but my car still had the bad fuel filter and so on. I took off and got a carlength on him off the line (I don't think he was planning on doing anything until he saw me take off), but then he stepped on it and passed me quite quickly. I was embarrased, but hey, I got a Taurus :-). I'd put up MUCH more of a fight, now.

-> Sadly, a late 90's Civic. This was again when my car had a bad fuel filter, horrible MAF, and oil in the wells. We took off from a dig and I didn't start to pull on him till we were going about 50 mph.

Top Speed Reached: 135 mph @ ~4750 rpm in 5th gear Got up there pretty easily, still had more speed in there, but there was a curve up ahead plus traffic. This was a stupid thing to do seeing as I had rear tires that could blow at ANY time (VERY bald), and front suspension problems. But this was the day that I fixed the fuel filter and MAF, so it was the first time i could really push the SHO.
