Close up view of my HiFonics Zeus 440. (Sub amp)
A little closer picture of my Zeus 400. I had to mount it to Lexan because there was no metal To attach the amp directly on.
Right now my current project is making a new amp rack for my car. Just to give you an idea on what my plan is, in the trunk on the left and the right, between the wheel well and the rear of the car, I want to make an amp rack. (2 total). I have seen many people put EQs or crossovers, power dist blocks in this space, but I decided that I was going to fit my amps there. Just incase you are thinking to yourself, "There is a reason almost no one does that you stupid ignorant son of a mother." Well, because the space is pretty big in my car, and the amps are relatively small...I can squezze these in without a problem. So far I'm not sure who is going to do the work. I am short of tools to build these, and I had someone at a local shop give me a pretty decent estimate. So...I may stoop to giving in and finally paying someone to do labor...(I hate to do it, but I am kind of stuck.)
Okay, eventually I plan on getting a nice set of front components and throwing the ID coaxials in the rear. But for now I must say this system sounds awsome. I have spent a little over $1300 for the entire thing. I use Lightning Audio 4 gauge wire that goes to a dist. block and goes to two 8 gauge wires into the amps. I recently got a Phoenix Gold 7 gauge kit (From 1988) that I am going to use to give my amps a little bit more power. I also have 52 feet of Phoenix Gold TRX (I think it's TRX) RCA cable coming soon. I use 10 or 12 gauge speaker wire for everything. I have used 4 sq. ft. of Dynamat in the trunk, and I have 48oz of Stinger Noise Killer spray that I am going to use on the doors and rear deck. Check back soon, I plan on doing a lot of stuff to my car in the next few weeks.
Eventually I am going to turn my car into a SPL capable machine. Current plan is to use the IDMax 12" or 15" subs, and a HiFonics Colossus to power the subs in a custom BP box. My plan for this is to have a car that can attain high SPL, but where I could remove the IDMax subs and throw in my IDQs. Because this is my daily driver. I guess I'll have to wait and see how the Maxs do for SQ.
