1989 Musclecar Nationals '89
Sacramento California raceway, my friends and I towed the Charger on a U-haul trailer. I passed tec inspection and rolled onto the track.
I enter Junior Stock Big-Block, as I could use DOT sticky tires.
It was problematic because once the Sixpac opened up there was nothing to hold the tires from burning up. Practice times where 13.33 @ 102. Lost my advantage and 60ft times droped.
The only traction device I had was a pinion snub, but I played with the timing and just had lots of fun racing the other brands.
One 1970 455 Chevelle I got to race, was in the modified class, one class higher than me. He must have spent a ton of money on the engine, because it was full of chrome. Paint was beautiful and people were drooling all over it. Not many look at my old Dodge, because it looked like it was made from junkyard parts, and IT WAS!
I didn't know what it would do as we staged the tree. Well I blew his doors, trunk lid, and hood off. All show and no go, typical.
We met up in the staging lanes, as I popped my hood he sheepishly came over and asked me what I was running. I said just a stock 440+6 nothing special.

This was the mag that I was in, just a little pic with my
opponent.
The picture on the right is from 1988 and is not my Charger. Just wanted to include it, for I have no personal pics of the day. I was to busy for pictures.
I won my class, against a 67 GTX with a 440+6 too. He wasn't even close to me time wise, and he knew it. I think he red lighted, or I was sleeping because he was running high 13's and I didn't have to push it to bad. Still beat him at the end.
Sorry Dave...
