This page isn't of major importance, but it does contain pictures and information on some of the teardowns and installations of many of the parts and/or modifications that I have made to this car. These really aren't tutorials on how to take this stuff out or replace it, but if I get enough requests, in the future I could actually turn this into a tutorials page.

Most of this information is not in any chronological order, as I have so many pictures, I couldn't remember what I did first, and what I did last, so I'm just kind of adding these as I go. Also, some of the pictures of these mods have been long replaced by something else, but like I said, this kind of gives the general idea of what I've done.

I think I'll talk about the exhaust first. Most of these pictures are from when the exhaust was completely off to repair the damage made to it when I wrecked (page 11), and installation of the aftermarket catalytic converter.

The first picture, on the left, pretty much speaks for itself – this was the original muffler. After over 11 years and 270,000 plus miles, the old muffler starting showing its age. So, I replaced it with a dual outlet Edelbrok muffler. On the right is that muffler with the elbow pipes, adapter, and custom secondary exhaust hanger welded onto it (also notice how the elbows point kinda downwards – something I only noticed after the muffler was put on the car):

Here is a shot of the complete exhaust (downpipe to tips) taken off the car, and laid on the sidewalk. In this picture, you can see how badly the exhaust is twisted, which caused the end of the exhaust to point more towards the passenger side of the car. It looked terrible while like that on the car:

Here is the damage done to the Borla tips that I originally had on the car, when I wrecked. They got scraped up and bent pretty bad (but I kept using them until I lost one somewhere one night when I was coming back home from a friend's place):

Next is a picture of the exhaust, after my brother and I straightened it (as best we could), installed the aftermarket catalytic converter, removed the factory resonator (which I'm kinda regretting now, lost some of the low end sound of the exhaust), welded new hangers, and put some high temp paint on the pipes (mainly to keep them from standing out a whole lot):

On the left is a picture of the LeSabre without any exhaust sticking out the back (looks factory), and on the right is it up on ramps, so we could unbolt the whole exhaust and pull it out without too much trouble:

The following two pictures are when my brother and I put the fixed exhaust back onto the car. The exhaust points a whole lot less out to the passenger side (still a tiny bit, but a huge improvement over what is seen on page 11):

This next group of pictures is from when my brother and I had to reconfigure the muffler setup so we could install the Camaro style exhaust tips that I had purchased. Since these new tips were longer than anything I've had on the car before, we had to flip the muffler over, remove the elbows and flip them as well, pushing everything back a little, to give us more room for the tips. This prevented a new problem, the inlet pipe was in the way, so we had to cut it up, and re-weld it with a few more pieces so we could bring it up and over one the elbows.

On the left is showing the elbow pipe sticking much further back than it had before (originally it reached almost to the lip of the underside of the rear bumper). On the right is showing some of the mocked up piping we had to make for the flipping of the muffler to work (an extension and a corner/bend piece):

On the left is a picture of part of the original factory hanger cut and modified to accommodate the new position of the muffler, and the picture on the right shows the passenger side elbow, with an extension added to the end of the elbow, and a new hanger installed:

I still had problems with the center of the exhaust still sagging (result of a combination of the wreck and letting it hang when the fuel tank was dropped), so my brother welded up a hanger for the middle of the pipe, and mounted it (left picture). The picture on the right shows the modified inlet pipe (highlighted gray for easier viewing), going up and over the outlet elbow:

It's cool man. I think im scrapping that idea anyway, cuz now I've got more important projects to deal with, and I need to start saving up for college. I am probably getting a 3800 series III L67 in the fall for college. It'll be all bored out and suped up to drop in when I graduate. Don't get excited though cuz that won't be for at least 5 years or so. lol

Hey man! Just stoppin by with another question for you. I remember reading about your attempts at trying to swap your custom guage cluster with a limited cluster. Do you know why it didnt work? I want to swap in a digital cluster. I saw one that fits perfectly but I dont want to spend $800 for it not to work lol Thanks!
