Question: Should I restore original wheels and tires or buy big 5-spoke rimes with low-profile tires?

big6ft6's 1971 Pontiac Ventura Madison WI, WI Customized with Edelbrock Engine Comps., Edelbrock Intake, KYB Shocks - 36

This is my baby (above photo is was actually taken by original owner), and this is our story. I was 15 years old and, with drivers liscenses on the horizon, my buddies and I really started to get into cars, and for some reason, even though it was 1994, we were all into cars from the 60's and 70's.

At that time I had a nieghbor who lived on her bicycle, named Terry (pictured above). She was a really sweet lady on a fixed income, and I just kind of assumed she didn't have a car. Well, one day she asked me to come help her fix her bicyle, and when she lifted her garage door, I almost sh*t a brick! Piled underneath all these boxes and covered in dust was a bright red car. (other photo above is of the interior as I found it) I didn't know what it was at the time, but it looked like a muscle car to me. The conversation switched to cars and she let me look under the hood. I was slightly dissapointed when I saw the 6-cyl, but I was still in awe. (she mentioned she had traded in a 68 Pontiac 442 convertible for this car AHh, and I thought she only rode bicycles!)

Anyway, I dreamed about this car so much I couldn't focus in school. I started reading all about pontiacs, looking at parts catalogs, I even tried to trade her my 1984 Grand Marquis for the Ventura but she felt the Merc was too "complex".

Fast forward 8 years and unfortunately Terry lost her battle with cancer. Terry's only sister was from Australia and couldn't take the car back with her, and ended up giving it to me. The rest is History. It was quite a few years before I had the money or time to do anything with the car. But here I am, and here it is! There was rust under the car and on lower panels and door bottoms, but it was always garaged and interior was great and I was in love. I want to make this car beautiful, and have "Thanks Terry!" tagged on the back.
