After a month of daily driving with no CD player, I had had it. I decided to upgrade the head unit and wanted something that wasn't too flashy (jumping dolphins/tons of different colors.) I wanted a unit that would be somewhat subtle for the interior of the car and wouldn't clash too much. I finally decided on this Eclipse unit because the lighting is primarily white and it has a Memory Stick reader as well. I use Sony products exclusively, so this fits me well. It also plays MP3's, so I can fit about 150 songs on a single CD - no need for a changer! I left the stock speakers in place and will decide to upgrade them or not later. They had to run new speaker wire to all speakers to bypass the factory amps and fader in the center console.

I've been spoiled to keyless entry for as long as I can remember, so this car was a little frustrating having to use the key in the door. The car came with a factory security system that was adequate, but the lack of keyless entry just wouldn't cut it. I decided to spend some cash on a new security system to protect the car better and to gain remote access.

I found a local shop that had a Mercedes specialist on staff. The kid has amazing knowledge of this vintage car and did a fantastic installation. I'm picky about drilling holes in my cars, so he came up with a clever solution for the red LED warning light - put it between the roof and headliner just above the rearview mirror facing the front of the car. No holes required. Here's a few night shots of that LED - it may be hard to see:

I also had the windows tinted at the same time. Unfortunately, this car has to sit outside about half the time, so I wanted to protect the interior as best as possible. I also bought a high quality front window sunshade to protect the dash and interior from sun damage through the windshield.

You really got lucky with those wipers because I have no idea on eBay where to start looking for those headlight wipers. You have any other places you know to find Euro Headlight Wipers?

I am in complete disbelief, I WANT YOUR CAR! I have had a 560SEL for 2 years, its been my dad's car since it was brand new. Unfortunately, he knows nothing about maintenance, that and left it out in the sun every day. I want to either get another or fix the one I have, and I might even use this car as a guideline. Where did you get the OEM wheels, badging, grille, lights/wipers, chrome bits, and burl shift knob? I also want that lockbox you have, I never had one, my interior went to hell years ago.
