HISTORY OF PONTIAC'S FIREHAWK

In 1992....
Firehawk was introduced. Built by SLP, the car featured a massaged L98 350 and a ZF 6-speed manual transmission. Only 25 were built, with sticker prices in the $60,000 range. Below are the specifics:
1.) 11 of the cars had the "Competition Package"
2.) 3 of the cars were produced with aluminum-block engines
3.) 4 of the cars were painted colors other than the mandatory Red. One was aqua, one was white, one was blue, and one was green.
4.) One car had T-Tops
5.) One car was a Trans Am Convertible.
6.) This was also the last 1992 car built. The 1992 option code for an SLP car was B4U.
7.) Although the last car produced in 1992 is listed as car #27, only 25 Firehawks were produced. Car no.'s 18 and 23 were cancelled and never built.
The next big news came in 1996, and once again F-body performance fans can thank the engineers at SLP for the boost. This was the year the Ram Air Firebird and Camaro SS nameplates returned. The WS-6 Ram Air package was a development of the fourth-gen Firehawk package, which received a unique twin-nostril hood that fed a sealed air cleaner assembly in 1993. Another SLP fore-runner to the WS-6 and SS models was the 1995 Comp TA package. This car featured a version of the Firehawk's cold-air setup, along with specific suspension tuning and 17-inch wheels and tires.
