i took yota to a car show today,,,ONLY TOYOTA THERE,,,hell, only foriegn car there.

...ok,,,,so i took a crap - load of black spray paint,,,and for 2 solid days,,i painted the underneath of yota,,,,,DID U KNOW, THAT IF U BUY OVER 10 CANS OF SPRAY PAINT FROM WALMART,,,they will stop YOU,,,and ask if u are huffing this stupid fuckin paint,,,the nice cashier looked at me,,,she grinned, cause i got black paint all over me ...+ plus,,,i did wear a mask around my nose and mouth...lol...that made it look like i was "HUFFING",,,black paint on arms/hands/legs /face, and I had only been thru 10 cans,,,,it was a "to do" type of list thing,,,so i plowed on,,,,

I painted the whole underside of yota,,,catylatic converter and WHOLE exhaust got "high heat, header paint"...up to 1300 degree

...ANTIQUE...ANTIQUE...ANTIQUE !!!!!!! I have been waiting a loooong time for this day when my normal "1983" tag expired where I could get me an Antique tag,,,25 years old...NO MORE EMISSIONS TESTS,,,AND I DONT HAVE TO TAG IT EVERY YEAR ! TADA !!!!...Permanent.

Finally, got around to BEATING the snot out of my rear fender,,,I have never been good at body work,,,but I took some large c clamps, ,blocks of wood, and a hammer, and straightened as well as I could with my limited body experience,,,then I re-wired ALL 4 marker lights, rebuilt the sockets, and got all 4 of them shinin bright!,,,,The Windshield wipers,,,finally got around to grinding off the stupid looking orange paint that was on them, also found 2 good "caps" that go over the nuts that hold them down,

so now,,everywhere u see the "bullet holes" on curb-side rear fender, now the bullet holes are gone and I used some crappy touch up paint to try to get it back to normal (RE: see very 1st pic, top left)

,,,oh Hey,,,EVERYWHERE that I chose "Custom"...(there, on the left)..that's my bad, the drop down boxes didn't have a choice for "STOCK", so I just clicked "Custom",,,,cause I tried to improve/clean the original crap...LOL...Take the ugly out of it...
I went to the junkyard, found an old original Toyota radio from a 1984 model, fixed some cold solder joints inside it, and now I have the original sound system!!! LOL...(Realize, the original radio has the volume on the right hand side, and the tuner is on the left side)Finally, 12-23-06 got new carpet in, seat covers,,,,,,,


Above pics of interior,,,,to keep from trashing the dash face panel, there is a "natural" knock-out hole right beside the cigarette lighter (yes it works), so to keep from destroying face panel, I just pulled the little piece of plastic out, ran the wires thru the hole,,,then took the 2 mounting bolts for the e-brake, fabricated a piece of metal from neighbor, and painted it, and, TADA,,,KC And rear HELLA lights are wired and ready to go,,,also fixed the horn, and e-brake and ALT lights.

With the exception of the elongated rollbar and black toolbox, I'm trying to keep this as original as possible. (the long rollbar was a "shipping" mistake, so I kept it, and tried to give it that "Baja" look.)
Bought this stock in 2002, 4X4 in uppercase = $X$,From a used car lot (by the Liquor store) Gave a total 2K for it,(taxes and all) 4x4 works,A/C works,,, blew the head gasket and am rebuilding the engine now... descent body, (curbside, bottom rear damage, bottom 1/4 panel)

Yes,I don't like the "Burnt Orange" color either, believe it or not there is an original color under that "Paint over the Rust",,,,"Maaco" look....."...underneath that paint is ANOTHER coat of "Burnt Orange"...original from Toyota(1983)....oh well...,,!!!

UPDATE....got the engine back from machine shop, bored over .020",, 4 new pistons,,(old rods),head job, shaved bottom of head/top of block,,shaved crank...I painted it,,am still working on it(assembling/painting/grinding old paint and mud off Brackets..!!)) INSTALLED...Minor issues to deal with, but I drove her 50 good miles, good power, good torque,,,,...

Got some new smokers guards..( ventshades )

...Incredible Luck I say as far as finding this body in such good shape,,I had been looking for this generation ('79-83') for 2 years when I found this and bought it on the spot.Thanks for the comments, keep them coming,,,got 2 brand new sheets of Autozone carpet to put in there,(Tan),hell of it is,I really don't want to cover the old/stained carpet,,,cause??? you guessed it,,,,it's original Toyota carpet (cutouts and stitched in for seat hardware and such) As much time as I spent underneath,,I did get a good detailed look at the FRAME....not too shabby,,,was solid,normal surface rust,but not rotted thru...so yea,,,,,,,,,,I would say I was blessed to get 1 in such good shape !!!

Latest aquisition,,,,1982 Yoda 2wd, WITH SPARE 20R ENJINE!!!!....also notice it has 2 front fenders off 1980 4wd that the 20 R engine came from. Also, finally got around to painting the grille, 1-3-2007,,,,Well,,,,,what do you know???? ....finally found POS 83 4x4 rustbucket,,,gave too much $ for it, but, really,,,,,all I see are spare parts !!!!

I re-did the door panels, bought new (thin) speakers, I had to use the old (broke) grills that came with truck, so I covered them with "grille cloth" painted 'em brown, and got on with it....Note the "pouch"...LOL...on the driver side door,,,originally it came with a "pouch" that had elastic in it, looked good,,,mine however did not come with the "pouch",,so I took a piece of leftover carpet for floorboard, folded it in half, sewed it (I learned in the Army how to at least sew a button back on my uniform),,,so,,,LOL,,,I sewed up the carpet, and sewed it into the leftover brackets that were in the door panel,,,and TADA!!!,,not original,,,but not too shabby either,,,,,I at least tried....Took the POS strips of "carpet" that came new on bottom of door panel,(they were old and grease stained and falling apart),,,filled in the holes,,,and painted bottom strip orange/red primer/burnt orange/brown/////LOL...whatever color this POS is....LOL!!!!!

OLD BRAKES,,on my bench,,,,NEW BRAKES,,,on the truck,,,went thru whole system, originally, blew out a wheel cylinder on curbside rear brake,,,so I said screw it,,,go thru them all and do it right!!!!!....2 new wheel cylinders, new pads, spring kit, adjust and repair emergency brake and "idiot" lite on dash, new pads in front,,,didn't turn rotors or drums,,just sanded them down a little bit,,,and all is well...E-Brake and idiot lite works fine now too.....
