My apmp installation (First Version)

Installation Tips:
I mounted the amps on a board that has some "hinges" so I can access the the wires and crossovers behind the amps. The speakers were mounted using the mounts from http://www.tacotunes.com.
The "mounting" board was easy to build with MDF and some cheap carpet from Walmart.
Ran three sets of patch cables to the head unit. I also used 120 feet of monster cable. This was because I wanted to place the crossovers on the amp board so I had to run two sets of speaker wires to each door.
Crutchfield said I could not mount the Polk 6x9 (Front) Component and Polk 6.5 (Rear) speakers. The guys at tacotunes.com said yes and they were right.
There is plenty of space behind the speakers. From what I understand these were the "deepest" mount speakers that crutchfield had. So I am guessing you can install just about any 6x9 or 6.5 you would like to use.
BTW, I am glad I did not build my speaker mounts - that MDF stuff SUCKS to work with . . . and would not want moisture to get to the MDF.
Some other tips. I bought some bolts that fit some holes already threaded close to the battery. Cut a piece of REAL wood and mounted the fuse for the amp to that piece of wood - - NO drilling!! Also behind the brake booster on the firewall there is already a hole with a rubber grommet. I took out the rubber grommet, took a razor, cut out a hole in the grommet and used it to seal my amp wire. Did not have to drill my taco at all!! Like it was made for an amp!!
BTW, this is my first real installation that I did myself!! I was soo excited. Never installed an amp or speaker wires. Have done a really simple head unit exchange once before . . . helped a friend "hold" some speakers while he installed them in his 1970 Cuda' . . .
