Here it is... My quirky 1964 Volkswagen Beetle. And yes, it IS going to become a Herbie replica over the summer. Story of this car is as follows: Local guy bought this car 4 years ago as a rolling shell. He took some extra cash and a whole lotta love and transformed it into what you see here. He built it up as an "occasional" commuter car that he could also have some fun in. Thusly, he rebuilt a 1600DP engine in it with slightly larger bore cylinder sleeves to achieve 1641 CC, put dual port heads and intakes on it with dualie Webber carbs, more efficient cooling, Engle 110 Cam, performance exhaust, and a fairly well hidden performance muffler. Only 3000 mi on this engine, and the car comes with the stock 40HP 1200 as well! Exhaust sounds EXACTLY like Herbie from "The Love Bug", both inside the car and out! It still needs a headliner, and seat covers. Carpet could probably be replaced as well... It also has a specially fitted speaker box behind the rear seat with two speakers, and a 15" sub. Those speakers really sound nice in such a small car! Under the rear seat is dual amps, crossover and a bunch of audio equipment. It has a radio delete plate in place, and a Blaupunkt 160W radio in the glovebox. Best part of the deal: I got the car, the extra 40HP motor, bunch of extra engine tin, a WHOLE LOT of extra engine parts (two sets of heads, set of rods, tons of valvetrain stuff, extra camshaft, extra crankshaft, carbs, distributors, etc.) for only.. *drumroll* $1800! Here it is as I bought it:
