Steering column fitting

I'm fitting an Ididit tilt steering column (this specific one is paintable steel) in the car. I had to put the dash back in so that I could mount the Ididt steering column.

As you can see, I'm missing the intermediate column - which is the steel column rod that attaches to the end of the Ididt steering column to the rag joint, which, in turn, attaches to the power steering box.

Had to pull the old steering column, disassemble the entire thing to get the actual column. Then modify it so that it was cut to an appropriate length and keyed for the "DD" connector.

Now the "old" column with the keyed "DD" male connection fits into the Ididit column with the "DD" female connector. As you can see, the opposite end of the intermediate column already has the adapter to fit the rag joint.

Final test fit with the intermediate column fitting nicely into place. I'll just have to mark where the bolt needs to be drilled, drill the hole, then bolt the ends together.

You have obviously put in some hard work and lots of time and money! Great job so far! 5*'s I have just began, just bought my '66 a few months ago, not even touched it yet. Thanks for sharing your hard work and tips! I will check back over and over. I can only hope to get mine looking as good as yours does already.
