I got a land yacht. A petroleum connisseur. A fuel aficianado. A gas hog. It's a Rocket, baby, yeah!
The car is equipped as follows:
1979 Oldsmobile Delta 88 Royale 2-door sedan
5.7 liter (350cid) 4-barrel V-8, rear wheel drive
Turbo 350 3-speed automatic transmission, column shift
air conditioning, power steering and brakes, tinted glass
tilt steering column, cruise control, white vinyl top
white exterior with light blue crushed velour interior
The car was purchased for $450.00 plus tax and title. I will be scouring local pick-n-pull yards for parts, and whatever I CAN'T find here, I will be looking for online. More pictures will be up after I get done at the junkyards and have replaced everything I can. I intend to keep this as stock as possible. Which means getting all the trim straightened up and replaced where needed, and making sure everything is working. Like the AC, the missing radio, and the cruise control.
I have a 1996 Olds Ciera AM-FM cassette I'm willing to trade for a 1978-1987 (older plug style) 2-shaft Delco analog AM-FM radio or radio with cassette. Would prefer woodgrain trim on the knobs.
I am also looking for a light blue Oldsmobile steering wheel, preferably from a Delta 88 or 98 Regency of the late 70s.
Everything else I should be able to get junkyarding. It doesn't need much to be reworked, just a small rust hole on the left quarter, and some weatherstripping and plastics inside and on the doors.
That's the only picture I have left from the day I bought it. Newer pictures are on page 2, but they still don't show the OEM Delco AM-FM cassette I *finally* got in it.
This car was sold in March 2006, wrecked and totaled later that year and crushed before Christmas. I never got to go pull my goodies off it (hood ornament, cassette stereo, factory service manual, etc)
