7point5inafox's 1985 Ford Mustang Beaver Falls, PA - 47I bought this Zinc Yellow 2001 GT in Dec. of '03 with 55,000 miles on it. I was hoping to be driving this thing with a 466 in it by now but things haven't worked out that way. I did manage to pay the car off and I have all the pieces, except air bags, to finish it as a stock 4.6L GT but now I don't have the time to work on it. The only good thing about buying a newer car with high miles and not being able to work on it is it becomes an old car with low miles. Hopefully in '09 I can get the car put together and painted so it can be inspected, both safety and emissions, to get my salvage certificate turned into a reconconstructed title. Once this car passes the emissions test I could tear it apart that day and put the big block in it. I'm good as long as there isn't more than 5,000 miles put on it in a year's time. I'm hoping with the help of my 37 page wiring diagram I get the cruise, a/c and maybe the traction control to work. I'll probably give up on the traction control and use the switch for the line lock or something. I'm hoping someday it will have electronic fuel injection too.

7point5inafox's 1985 Ford Mustang Beaver Falls, PA - 80 Here is a pic of my 26" x 10.5" ET Streets sitting in the wheelwell. I tried a friend's 29" x 11.5" ET Drags. It was just way too much tire so I'm going to go with 17" x 10" Mach 1 wheels and M&H Street radials in the 27" x 11.5" size. I would like to get this one as close to 11.50's on the motor and put just frame connectors in it with no roll bar.

7point5inafox's 1985 Ford Mustang Beaver Falls, PA - 81 My wife likes to shift gears so the plans are right now to put the motor from my '85 in it along with a TKO-600 using McCleod adapter parts. I used the 8746-03 modular bellhousing, 64305-00-07 steel flywheel/Street Twin clutch assembly. I bought the hyd throw out bearing assembly # 14005-30 and required spacer # 1439. I'm hoping this makes the clutch easy enough for her to be able to drive it. Bll Fowler wrote an awesome article on a T56 swap behind a Big Block Ford that I'm going to use for reference as much as possible. I went with the TCET-4617 trans. It has the .82 overdrive ratio. I think the .64 5th gear would've been too much of a drop using the 3.50 rear gear I'm planning on. While the motor is out of the '85 I want to refinish it's engine compartment and repaint the car. Maybe if I get a few more side jobs done I can build a 532 or 545 for the '85 and leave the 466 in the '01.

7point5inafox's 1985 Ford Mustang Beaver Falls, PA - 76I bought a shaker set up along with this hood off of the '03-'04 Mach 1's to put on mine. I'm thinking this should buy me enough hood clearance. The shaker hood on the car in the above pic has significant damage to the left front and I couldn't pass up the blue one due to the price. I also got a complete Cobra 13" front disc set up. I'm going to put the rotors/calipers on the '01 and I can make the '03 roll around now that I have spindles and hubs. I've purchased the correct Mach 1 C-pillar panels and quarter glass. I also found a pair of the original rolled edge exhaust tips that will be welded onto the end of the 3" tailpipes. I'm on the look out for the 11.65" rear disc set up or reasonably priced 12" upgrade kit. Also on my "still need list" are the stripe kit, emblems, hood blanket and most of the interior upgrade pieces like the pedals, radio and shifter bezels, shifter ball and most importantly the seats.

Spring '05 Update:This is a '03 GT I bought at the beginning of March. I found it on the Corral for sale with no drivetrain or seats. I need one more Mustang like a need another hole in my head but this was another thing I couldn't pass it up due to the asking price. It was 8 hours away in Roanoke, Va. I asked my wife if I could buy it and she said it looked like a great deal and not to lose it. I yanked the rear end out from under the '01, so I could load the thing onto the trailer, and we drove down to get it. When I was handed the title I found out there is only 7,300 miles on it! For now it is just going to be one more thing that is in the way of the lawn tractor, or maybe it's the other way around. My '85 has been sitting outside since and my wife's car hasn't seen a garage stall in 4 or 5 years. I'm so lucky she hasn't complained about having to scrape ice off her car in the mornings I don't get a chance to.

7point5inafox's 1985 Ford Mustang Beaver Falls, PA - 141May '06 Update: Another Road trip! Another Corral find. I found this '01 GT w/40,000 miles in Louisville, Kentucky. About 6-1/2 hours each way. It made for a very long day. I'm going to use the drivetrain and front clip from this car and the Bullitt wheels and seats from the yellow '01 to put the '03 together. I think a set of air bags will be the only parts I need to buy besides paint and related materials. Hopefully this can be completed by the spring/summer of '09 so I drive it for a while to eliminate any bugs while the weather is still nice. I would like to get it sold so someone could cruise it for a while before winter. That money should buy the rest of my parts needed to finish the '01 Mach 1 clone. I also have a ton of used parts to sell from these cars. My next stupid idea is to make a trailer out the back half, painted Zinc Yellow of course. I got a hitch with car and think this would be great for the Power Tour, Drag Week or just to the track when driving there. The racing tires can go where base of the back seat is. A spare N2O bottle could be mounted in there too. The gas tank has the stock electric fuel pump in it so you could refuel the car without ever unhooking the trailer. All of the tools would be locked up and out of sight. Just unhook the trailer and go racing. Hopefully, I'll find someone who needs a good back end and they can prevent me from wasting my time attempting this.

7point5inafox's 1985 Ford Mustang Beaver Falls, PA - 52 I found a used P-Ayr plastic 460 long block on the Network54 BBF Classifieds, now www.460.com, and I'm just dying to have the time to start making k-members, mounts and headers for these things. It only weighs about 10 pounds so I'll be working easy for a change. I figure I may as well see what is needed to put an automatic behind a 460 in these cars while I'm setting up the TKO. I'll get my tranny guy to gut a C6 and I'll see if I can make that big thing fit.
