Hot Rod Magazine's Drag Week 2009 - Coverage is in the January 2010 issue
I had over 40 pics and all the info that went with them erased accidentally when this site had a weekend glitch. I was left with just the beginning paragraph and just 2 pics. It will take a while to redo it.
I had so much fun riding on this trip I will probably never do another Power Tour. The street driveable race cars that were on this trip were the ones I went to look at when we made the stops on the Power Tours. We got to spend the week with Ross Stomp, Rick "Doc" Fox, and a few of their friends. Ross, a former Fastest Street Car Shootout champ, was there tuning Doc's beatiful yellow '67 Corvette. When the week was over they had won the Modified Power Adder class by over a second with an average et of only 9.03 seconds!

This pic was taken at the first of a few minor stops that the Vette had to make. This was Doc getting the necessary tool for fixing the leaky fuel pump. The hammer was replaced with wrenches and they switched to a back up pump that was in the trailer. I would take the alternator and fuse issues, horn sticking and running out gas anyday to have his time slips.

This is Rodney's '68 Dart GTS. It's a very nice car with a good running 360. Rodney was the appointed leader of the group. He had the necessary requirements of a working fuel gauge and odometer and the ability to read a map. He was very strict with the gas stops limiting them to 5 minutes after fueling. Just enough time to get some "meat and potatoes" which amounted to beef jerky and Pringles. He was great getting on everybody's case that caused for an unnecessary stop. He just made the 32 car field in daily driver with an average of 12.71 @ 105 mph. He would have missed the field by one spot if not for the 12.65 he ran on Friday right before the eliminations. It also didn't hurt that the 32nd car had some trans issues and could only turn in a 13 flat that killed his average.

Rick was the quiet one in the group. This is his very nice '69 Road Runner. It ran flawlessly and he averaged 12.60's for the week with the 400 6-pack engine. He still currently owns a Hemi Dart and had 6 or 7 old Mopars all at once years ago.
