Painting the Engine Bay
How good of a paintjob could I possibly get using only sandpaper, rattlecan primer/paint, and alot of elbow grease...? I was hesitant to try, but anything would make the engine bay look better than it did when I pulled the KA.
The mess I started with...

After a bottle of simple green, and some foaming engine cleaner... Still looks like crap, but it's a start.

I then had to take care of a small amount of surface rust on the drivers side frame rail I found after pressure washing was done.

Passenger side done...

Finished with the frame rails...

I also did the support that is in front of where the radiator sits.

Now to focus on the engine bay. Painting the engine bay is fairly simple, and kind of hard to screw up. A good paintjob is only as good as the time you take to prep everything, and tape off the areas your not painting. This is after an hour or two of masking things off. Almost done and ready for primer.

After a few coats of primer, paint, and clearcoat.. this is what the end result is. Now comes the job of putting everything back in the engine bay once the paint fully cures.

Not bad for $40-50 in paint, and misc supplies.
