Welcome to my car's page. It's a 2003 Ford Focus ZX3, and since I bought her in MA came with a special 2.3L Duratec engine, an option in all states for 2004, and a sister to those now found in all 2005 Focuses.
I first got my car in July of 2003 after seeing Focuses since their US debut in 2000, I finally got one of my own. Here you can see the transformation it's gone through from stock (July 2003) to current-day, August 2005:
Here's a rather stock Focus, summer of 2003. I don't think I had any plans for it at this stage.
Here's a mostly stock close-up. The grille cover was bought to hide the characteristic yet kinda ugly amber turn signals embedded in the stock grille. Later I would realize I could get rid of these with a European setup which looks cooler.
One of the first changes was also to debadge the hatch, no more "focus" or "ZX3", people in the know would already recognize this. And this makes detailing easier, not having letters to get wax stuck around them, just looks nice 'n clean.
Around October 2003 I decided to paint a few interior bits to match the outside, and surprisingly didn't ruin anything. Then in January '04 I got my handy XM satellite radio "Roady" tuner installed. LOVE the XM!
March 2004 I wanted new wheels, so I picked up some summer shoes. They're standard 17" rims on certain SVT models, with Yokohama tires. Multispokes not so fun to clean though...
Then came the European headlights and upper grille. ST170s had been on the wishlist for a while, came in for Christmas 03 but couldn't be put on til I think May 04? This is a bad picture, but there's more...
like this one here...
or how they look at night.
Same time as I put in the new headlights, I got to install some "go" pieces. Namely an intake and 65mm throttle body by Focus-Central. Easy install for a first-timer, but a clearly noticeable increase in power, along with the slightly louder and fun sound of air rushing through the intake.
Later in 2004's summer I ran across an uber-deal on eBay and was forced to acquire new leather seats to replace my grey cloth ones, which are still For Sale! =D.
Along with them came a center console that got rid of the mostly-useless armrest mine had and added an extra (4th) cupholder. Bye bye cloth seats!
Before July 04 my car was riding high, mimicking a 4x4 for all it was worth.
So I dropped it about 1.8" front and rear with the Eibach Prokit springs and dampers. Much nicer look and handling, but can still survive potholes which is key! One of my favorite changes thus far.
In October 2004 I left for a couple days and returned to my new catback exhaust by Borla. Great sound from this puppy.
Recently I did some minor stuff to the interior:
Installing the SVT's nicer leather e-brake to replace my scratched plastic one.
Then I put a leather shift boot and MOMO knob on my automatic car. Not because I pretend it's a 5 speed, but because the console looks better with a boot and the "T" handle auto knob was getting on my nerves. Still need to relocate the OD button, but all in good time.
I got my new hood, from the friendly and highly-skilled folks up at www.carbonfibrefx.com in Toronto. Kinda like a work of art, in my opinion. Should look even cooler when I get the grey summer wheels back on! Top pic is featured on their website for Focus Hood, sweet!
Just recently put on the summer wheels, they compliment the hood quite nicely, I think!
20% tint all around... this pic was taken on an overcast, rainy day an hour after I brought her home, tint looks real good in person!
NEW (minor) STUFF!
Chopped the stock RC car antenna down to a more attractive length, no loss of reception noted
Wanted tinted tails but always feared screwing them up, so I found someone who'd do better than me... pic doesn't do them justice. As you can see, sporting a Sox plate frame down in WV, and...
since this state only wants one license plate, the front 2 screw-holes are used for this lovely tribute to Red Sox Nation
Well that's it for now, thanks for checking out the car! Sign my Guestbook if you want or if you see the car give me a beep or a wave!
