What makes an SS an SS?
For those of you don't know, the Base SS Package includes:

The SS Hood is the obviously the main part of being a super sport, which is why I would consider my car an SS. Either way the stock 17" alloy rims look boring w/ no show, so I went the cheaper route and bought the chromed out z28 rims w/ tires which were way cheaper. Enjoy.

RKSport= JUNK!!!

Wow what great packaging! NOT! Hood came damaged TWICE. Yea that's right. You'd think they would get it right the first time. I'm not going to pay money to have the hood fixed. So I had to ship both back for damage claims and I just said screw it and ordered the SLP one.

I'm going to answer everyone's question once and for all. Should I get SLP or some fiberglass knock off?? You get what you pay for and I had to learn the hard way. GET THE SLP! The SLP one weighs about double the RkSport one. Plus it has its own drainage system. In other words, the RKsport one isn't even drivable in the rain. Who would want that? Since the SLP one is OEM, the water will drain out the sides of the hood. The air is also channeled in the SLP one meaning there isn't just a "hole" that goes directly into the air intake like the RKSport one. Compare the grills between the RKSport and the SLP one. I think that gives it away right there.
The RKSport one came with rough edges which means extra money to have it sanded. It's not even in primer. Plus bodyshops hate painting any fiberglass hood cuz they are junk. Ask anyone. I mean the thing is a total joke I can't believe how much they rip people off. If you are gonna spend the money to get a hood, make damn sure its not fiberglass. The SLP one is Sheet Mold Compound, meaning it's still a composite but a lot stronger and heavy duty vs. fiberglass. Do you want to risk having Spider cracks on a hood that you spent 600 dollars + paint job on? I mean you'd probably break the fiberglass one from shutting it too hard haha. You might as well get it right the first time, I'd rather spend the extra $$$ and get something that is going to last.. Enough said. NO COMPARISON.

SLP PICS. Packaging not shown but it was wayyy better. There isn't just some "foam padding" in a thin cardboard box like the RKSport one. The padding and packaging was double the thickness. I am getting this hood painted for 600 dollars. They have to blend it into the fenders and front bumper. Otherwise the hood paint will not match the rest of the car. Expect to pay a mimimum 600 or more to get a quality paint job. If you had the RKSport one, the paint job would obviously be more since there is more work involved on a fiberglass hood. The only thing bad I could say about the SLP one is that they need to include installation instructions for the ram air setup... The average joe wouldn't figure it out. You gotta bend this valve over and replace some tubing. I had to call them and have the instructions faxed over to me. They won't email them or include them with the shipment. Don't know why? But I figured it out on my own.
