This is my 1985 S10 blazer 2wd 2dr with the tahoe trim package. We just finished the 2nd motor swap. The first being a stock carbed '83 2.8l just to make it driveable.
So the other day i was out driving around and what did i find? an exact twin to my blazer, a lil more rust but identical to mine as far as i could tell, it was a 83-85 2door 2 wheel drive 2.8L powered S10 blazer, same colors, same wheels, everything.

before and after, well close enough.
A little history
This truck started out as a 2 wheel drive 1985 2 door S10 blazer no power options except electric hatch release, power steering and power brakes. Power in this truck was definatly lacking with the carburated 2.8 v6 and an automatic. The motor was blown when I bought the truck, spun a rod bearing, nothing uncommon there. From there we proceeded to swap a stock 1983 2.8 v6 out of a 4 wheel drive blazer. Now that it was drivable but definatly not too much fun due to the lack of power. From there it was a daily driver till the motor developed a rod knock, after the it was parked till a different motor could be found.
The truck has been lowered 3 inches all the way around using Belltech's complete 3/3 drop kit(coils, blocks and shocks. The only draw back is now I need to modify the back sides of my spring pockets so I stop bottoming out so easily.

before, marked where to cut or move.

during, the aluminum is to keep the flames from the torch off of the coils.

and here is the after, alot of heat and a big hammer moved the offending metal up so i have about 1/2 more clearance now, might go up higher later, but its good for now.
Now that the second motor swap is finnished i would have to say its the most factory looking swap i've seen. i'm sure there are more factory looking swaps out there but most of the ones i've seen are either hack jobs or i bought the kit kinds of swaps, which are fine, they get the job done. Everything in this swap is avaible at local parts stores and has factory gm applications. excpet for 2 elecritic fans, and a 78-93 mustang steering u-joint.
1987 350 tbi from a K5 blazer
1987 700R4 from a 1/2 ton van
1988 4.3 S10 radiator, fan shroud, overflow, thermostat housing, upper hose and aircleaner
1989 4.3 S10 20gal. fuel tank and electric pump
1988 transam 305 tbi pass. exhaust manifold
1978 malibu 305 driver exhaust manifold

This pic does no justice for how close the waterpump is to the radiator, I have to use an open end wrench to tighted the water pump bolts, cause a box end wrench won't fit.
coming soon, new tail gate, drivers door, and both 1/4 panels, paint, as well as a rear sway bar from a 97 4wd 4dr blazer, and engine mods.
