johnnyispy's 1990 Subaru Loyale

I bought this loyale back in September after test driving it for about 6 months. Over the Winter I have put on about 20 odd thousand Kms. I have flush the engine with all types of additives and high octang fuel giving me excellent results on fuel economy. At best @ 90 km per hour I have been able to get 18 km per liter. Today ( 03/24/05) she has over 331,000. Still runs very quiet at 2500 rpms or 90km per hour.

Since the September purchase my largest investment has been Winter Snow Tires. I didn't flake around with them seeing that I am on a lot of ski hill access roads. Now that Spring is here and this loyale has proved its durabilty. I am working on customizing her to improve her aerodynamics. I have started on the basics -like replacing the passenger side fender. After that little afternoon feat I realized how easy it would be to give her whole new look without going bankrupt.

I understand that the Boxer Engine that sits in these Loyales can last up to 800,000 km if you nurse them on clean fuel, fuel additives like the Lucas upper cylinder lube, and Lucas oil stabilizer real helps if your lifters stick a little. Since I started using the stabilizer I have used about a half a liter of oil between changes. Moving on these Loyales like to start rusting especially when they see the road as much as mine. The front fenders are easy to replace but the tail end is part of the unibody. So I have started my studies on how I will start customizing the body. I went to school for the arts so I am pretty hands on. One section of the car at a time I will make this Loyale one of a kind. It will be my Custom Concept Car.

You should look into running pure synthetic oil in your baru, it is true the that the subarus like octane and good oil, but most people blow off synthetic because it cost to much, but you can leave it in longer(as long as your not leaking)and it pays for itself in time, and it does step up the mileage, if you want look into a low dose of acetone http://www.pureenergysystems.com/news/2005/03/17/6900069_Acetone/ (i'm still looking into to it) Its cheap and makes up the differance of lower octane....Also check out http://www.fueleconomytips.com for other ideas, drive on.
