I moved to El Cajon, CA August 1st, 2005. As such, the Shelby will have to pass SMOG. It failed miserably the first time through. So I have decided to get real serious about the tuning of this thing.
Below are some pictures of the cars computer (known as a Logic Module or LM)You can see that I have removed a chip from the board. I am installing a ZIF socket, then will be creating a custom calibration chip for my car (also show in pics).
Here are a couple pics of the chip programmer I will be using.
This will allow me to install larger injectors and run higher boost, while maintaining drivability, fuel economy and most important....PASS SMOG!!!
Above is a picture of the Dawes Devices Dual Stage Boost Controller that I ordered. This will allow me to dial in two different boost levels and switch between the two at will and on the fly!
Update 9/9/05
I received the ZIF Sockets and ATMEL chips today to do my LM's. Below are some pics of the socketed LM. In case your wondering, I ordered the ZIF's and chips from Moates.net
Update 9/14/05
Yesterday I received my new vacuum block from FWD Performance. It's anodized black and has 4- 1/8 NPT and 3- 1/4 NPT ports. Beautiful piece in my opinion.
I also have some pics of my spare LM. It's an '85 T1, which will not work in my car....unless I convert it!
Notice the chip at the bottom right (in the pics above). It has 4 less pins than the chip to it's left. Beside programming this is the only diffence between the '85 T1 and the '87 T2 LM's. So... I will be socketing both chips on this one, burning the proper programming to the chips and that's it!
Above is a picture of the converted '85 LM with the case painted black. This was the first case I've striped and painted. Now I know not to use a wire wheel. Next time I'll sand it with a 120 or 180 grit disk.
