Motorsports activity:
Here are some shots from my first autocross season. I race in STX class with several regions around Indiana, Illinois, and Kentucky.
-Equipment
Just some stuff I bring along. The numbers are magnetic, made them myself. I really like my helmet, if you can't tell.

Events:
SIR-SCCA, Owensboro Airport, 6/25/05
CSCC, Walesboro Airport, 7/17/05
My buddy Kyle is in the yellow GTI Anniv. Ed. staged in front of me.
SIR/IL-SCCA, Lawerenceville Airport, 8/07/05
That about did it for me in the '05 season, time/money/TIRES became an issue. But I've fixed that for this year. I'm be back in the game with some upgrades! Have a look.
-Dedicated race wheels
After a few runs in '05 it became apparent to me that I would need a separate set of wheels/tires to be competitive. I just had to drive too conservatively to keep my street tires intact. So I picked up some lightweight Rota Subzeros. These things weigh in at 16.5 lbs each, for 17x7.5"! That's a 4 lb weight savings PER CORNER over the Grids. The color on these is Royal Steel Gray, and they're now shod in 225/45 Falken Azenis RT-615s. Let me tell you, those are the stickiest things I've ever driven on. Not the grippiest tires on Earth, obviously, but they're perfect for street-tire class competition.
If you've checked out my interior page, you've also seen my harness and bar. With the factory seats being built for a wider person than myself, these really help keep me from sliding around in the fast twisties.
Soon I'll start posting pics from the '06 season. It's starting off well. I've already run two events, one on the new tires. I'm having a great time with it already.
