My head unit is a Clarion CD Player DRX 6575z. I have 2 4 volt pre-outs, one goes to my Kenwood 7043 EQ, the other pre-out goes straight to the subwoofer amp which is a MTX 275XW it is specified at 325 watts bridged (but it does alot better then that). This amp powers my Blaupunkt Overdrive Dual voice coil 10" in a .5ft 4th order bandpass enclosure at 4 ohms. It rocks! My EQ splits the first pre-out into 4 channels, so I've got that going into my Power Acoustik VU560-4x. That amplifier powers my eclipse 4x6's up foward and my Blaupunkt Overdrive Dual voice coil 4 way 6x9's (@2 ohms!) for my rear mid bass and highs. I installed the system myself using Tsunami wires. I've got a 60 amp fuse under the hood for protection. My rear lights are kept from rattling via gasketing foam by Cascade Audio. The rear deck has been dynamated and I cut a 4" port through it.
Here's the car. I had to wait for a sunny day to take pictures of it. If you've ever lived on the Oregon coast, you'd know that sunny days don't come often. I had just finished washing it too. Yep, those are 16" Enkei Spider rims.
Here's what my dash looks like. The Clarion DRX 6575 is a pretty good deck. Probably the best deck that I have owned yet. I'm not into competing, I just wanted a system that sounded good. The amps are under the seats. The Kenwood EQ is just barely visible under the steering wheel.(I hate that EQ, I will never ever own another Kenwood product in my life) People walking by will only see a detatched faceplate. I wanted the car to look as stock as i could. The Eclipse 4x6's are in the stock location. I spray painted those door lock panels when I got to Oregon.
Here is a picture of the 4" port through the rear deck. It broke my heart when I actually started cutting it. Although the finished product looks pretty good. This is the only visible proof that there is a system in the car, other than the cd player up foward.
Here's an outside view of the port. Look closely you can see me taking the picture. My DVC 6x9's are under the deck, flush mounted. Like I said I wanted the car to look as stock as I could.
My 4th order band pass box. It houses a Blaupunkt Overdrive Dual Voice Coil 10". This 10 is powered by the MTX 275XW (the W means that the amp is white) @ 325 watts RMS. The speaker is rated @ 300 watts RMS.The box is only .5ft in air space, and it's actually designed to run 2 10's in an isobaric configuration. I am not gonna make this box permanent. I need it to be removal in case my wife makes a grocerie run. I get alot more bass if the box is flushed to the rear deck instead of the back seat facing the tail lights. You can see a little dynamat on the trunk wall there. If you wanna read up on how 4th order band pass boxes work, check out this web site: http://www.spiceisle.com/audiodiy/bnd/4thorder.htm
Here's another pic of the car. Yes, that is a Coast Guard sticker on the windshield. Again I am not into heavy modifications. I overhauled the car a couple months ago. I've done alot of work to this car mechanical wise but, everything is stock (except for the system).
I don't have pics of the amps and EQ because they didn't come out. I am in the progress of moving amps to the rear but sadly I am pressed for time. As soon as I get some I will install everything in the trunk. Also I'm hunting down some "Audio Control" crossovers and equalizers, man that's a pretty hard item to find in these parts. I got the car painted in acrylic white last year when I lived in Guam. This Pontiac is my wife's car. I have 2 beautiful children that ride in this car and we drive it every day. It's not ever gonna be a "show" car. I just wanted something nice for my wife to take to work. Also, I just bought me a 91 Toyota 4x4 Xtra cab, as soon as I fix it up, I'll show it to you.
Update: I have finally moved all the amps to the rear, upgraded all my wires. Will send pics ASAP.
