OK!!!! The hardest part is over!!! The '88 has been sanded, and the '87 VR parts are on.
All of the body parts are being "pre-fitted" prior to painting. Lots of holes to drill to attach everything. And lots of stress trying to get it all to line-up before drilling the holes!!! We do this so that paint will flow into the holes, and hopefully prevent some rust, and, when everything is painted, it will all go back together easily. No screwing up the paint because something doesn't fit.
The trunk has been drilled to mount the fin. The doors and fenders have been drilled for mounting of the ground effects. The red trim strips have been straightened and de-warped with a heat gun. All of the ground effects have been properly fit, trimed, and aligned. They fit better than they ever did stock. Very snug and straight.

Still lots of work to do. And I forgot to sand the gas door and grille cover! Man...does it never end?!
It will now all have to be dis-assembled again before painting, but..... I can see light at the end of the tunnel...!!! ... ... ......a dark light.... ... .... .... vader....

Heres some close-ups of the panels and j-channels. These are just spares, and not the ones used on the car. As you can see, the j-channel is very wavy. I use a heat gun to close up the gap for a tighter fit with the panel, and to flatten the mounting side. It worked very well.
