The '65 GTO is, in my humble opinion, the "coolest" car on the road. The styling is perfect. The car looks fantastic from every angle. The performance is awesome, even compared to cars 30 or 40 years newer. It also has a certain, difficult to define, emotional appeal that demands attention and approval. My '65 came from the factory with the Tri-power 389 and 4 speed. Unfortunately, somewhere along the way, these were replaced with a 326 and a Turbo 350. I bought this car, and collected several thousand dollars worth of parts for it, before military service delayed my plans to restore it. Someday I would like to put a Tri-power 421, and a manual overdrive transmission in it. For now, I am happy to cruise it around town whenever I am home!
