The LX model is the top of the line Acclaim made in 1989, 1990, and 1991. It is comparable to the top LeBaron sedan and the Dodge Spirit ES, but not the Spirit R/T. I wish there was an Acclaim R/T but not with the 2.2 Turbo III but a more souped up 3.0 v6 with a 5 speed manual so to be a larger, more refined, faster sedan than the Sundance DUSTER. It is not quite as comparable to the Spirit ES as the ES had standard 4 wheel disc brakes and a harder suspension and a less sumptuous interior. Yes, I said sumptuous! I am just glad my LX does not have those stupid stripes on the seats as the ES does. The LX was a cheaper less sporty version of the ES, but if I find an ES totalled or not, I am snatching it up! I saw a georgeous 1990 black ES driving around so I followed it for a while but I think the driver was scared so I backed off, I wanted to offer her some cash for it. I want one running or not. Anyways, the LX is the BMW of Acclaims, MOTOR TREND magazine once wrote,"the Acclaim [LX] is more powerful and more fun to drive than any of its competition..."
You can tell I love Plymouth Acclaims, here is the full list of models I want to buy or at least get extensive photographs of:
1. 1990 black Acclaim LX
2. 1990 black w/gray two-tone Acclaim 4 cyl. sedan (saw it a the gas station and gave the driver my phone number so when she sold it to sell it to me no matter if dead or not!)
3. 1991 Sapphire Satin blue Acclaim LX, the only color of 1991 LX I do not own
4. 1991 Spirit R/T in white
5. 1992 LeBaron LX sedan, basically an Acclaim LX with Chrysler badges, Chrysler grille w/ ornament and a Chrysler leather interior
6. 1993 or any year Spirit ES any color v6 or TURBO
As anyone may tell I don't like the 4 cylinders much at all, they are way slower, way louder and the head gaskets go, as do the heads, therefore I will not buy a 4 cyl. yet as I love the v6!
I have seen these colors of interior on these cars: Burgundy, Blue, Gray, Tan, Red(bright red). They come in cloth/vinyl, velour, and, oh yes, Leather!
