Page 2-Interior Speakers
To Begin with the first thing was to completely strip the vehicle of the stock bose system. This seemed like a great idea and had me all set to go...Needless to say its more work than one would think. I cheated by utilizing what on the bose would be the signal wires and used them to tap into for speaker signal from my amps :). This way you can just run amp wires to the back of the head unit and move from there. Alot easier than pushing wires through those doors.
To do this all you do is locate your wires in the dash behind the radio matching the wiring harness colors to those you find plugged into the amp (Bose)!!! From there its basic installation for the xover, speaker, and tweet. And make sure not to tap the orange or black ;) thats power and ground.
Some Pics of my initial trial and errors
To begin with I started with a slight advantage as I had equipment from the other car. Dont get it twisted, while i come across alot of equipment, its all hard work involved as i do it all on my own. Time to start testing A WHOLE LOAD Of speakers for the sound that I wanted, on a slew of different amps...
Started with some
Infinity Components
The sound was even but the mid wasnt as strong as I would have liked. I give some knowing that the door hasnt been properly matted and sealed, and although in a makeshift pod from the bose setup,if they cant shine in the conditions I have now, its of no use.
NEXT
Polk Momos
Polk did a really good job on these. They have good lower extension but a slightly over crisp high end, a little too harsh for my liking so i wired in an old set of diamond 5.25s that i had laying around. needless to say these didnt carry the mid because of the decrease in woofer area :( While they sounded good, they taxed a little on the lower range. The polks offer good solid mid bass and I sold them only to come back to another set within a month.

KicKer-Livin Lowd
From there I gave up and went to my beefier kicker mbrs and just used the diamond xovers, still not what i wanted but i at least had a decent mid extension until my eclipses arrive, these should really be used as a mid woofer in a sealed door to really make them shine, they are great mini subs and REALLY offer good sound.
i DID THE SAME MODIFICATION with the bose buckets dremeled out to fit the larger magnet structure and used silicone for a good seal on the rear of the woofer, its kinda messy but evident in this pic (The first is the speaker bolted into the pod)
This pod setup was used to test out the speakers and to DECIDE what i wanted to go with in the car. From there the door was sealed, with plexiglass, dynamat extreme, and hot glue. The speakers were then mounted to 1/2 inch mdf rings, then secured to 3/4 inch rings on the door. This enabled me to get the necessary depth to be able to foam the rear of the speakers and create a pod to dampen their response.
These are the old eclipses that have been replaced by another MM6 component set
And the final step has been taken in a set of rainbow germanium, dual 6.5 mid comps :), Get On Board.
