Seats
At first, I recovered the rear seat in black vinyl.
Here is the original rear seat bottom.
Seat finished, except for the arm rests
View of the new bottom of seat, it is a new board, and new foam, I installed a piece of angle iron at the back of the cusion to mount seat belts to, to eliminate the need to mount them to the floor, necissary since I moved the seat forward about 10 inches, and I would like to be able to remove seat and belts at one time. The seat belts came from the auto parts store.
Better view of the back of the seat
The begining piece of the new seat upholstery. OEM seat material is black vinyl, long since hardened and shredded.
I removed it from the seat, then made patterns of it, and started making my new upholstery out of bright red tweed and black tweed.
Here is the completed, uninstalled bottom cover.
This is the first piece of the new back section. I pleated in the "IH" emblem.
Here is the completed seat back, the very back of which was done in vinyl, to help ward off mud from the back seat passengers' feet.
The freshley recovered seat installed, see the "IH" at the top? The chalk marks from measuring out the location for the emblem are still present, they do wash away though.
Another view of this reupholstered seat, it used to look just like the passenger seat... Big difference!
I did make patterns of these seats, so if someone wants a set of front seat upholstery for their 1970 (or what ever other years used this same exact seat) low back Scout seats can buy a set from me, your choice of fabric: vinyl, or tweed, or velour. Will do what ever color I can get for it. As of yet I haven't finished my passenger seat, ran out of material, need to order enough to finish the passenger's seat back, and the door panels and rear seat. All will match, all will have at least one "IH" emblem pleated in.
The rear seat is currently reupholstered in black vinyl, looks good, but doesn't look nearly as sharp.
