Here she is on her way home after purchase
Plans include some better sheet metal soon. The current color is Omaha Orange. It will become bright red.
As this chapter grows, the pages will be dedicated to exterior, interior, and drivetrain.
This vehicle came with a 304 V-8, 4-speed wide ratio manaual transmision (uncommon on SR-2), rear PowrLok differential, and dealer installed A/C system.
Currently, the A/C system will get converted to a heater, the stock axles will be swapped for fullsize Chevy Blazer axles, in a spring over axle conversion.
The AM radio still works! It will stay in the dashboard, hooked up, but I will make a center console that will match the new interior that will contain a newer stereo system, and CB radio.
The original hinges on the driver's door were broken, then welded together at an angle, making the door spring-loaded to hit you in the face when you tried to open it. I had to drill the heads off the mounting screws, then remove and replace the mounting plates behind the fender.
I got better mount plates, screws and hinges from another scout. I soaked the new hinges in boiling draino to remove the paint, then soaked them in phosphoric acid to remove the rust (this also gives them a slight zinc finish), then rinsed them off, lightly sanded them, painted, installed, and repainted them
