I thought it would be cool to add a "Coupe DeVille Picture TimeLine" to my site, to celebrate one of Cadillac's popular models, from it's 1949 debut, up to the last model produced in 1993. Enjoy the pics!!!

, the year Cadillac had the highest, kick-ass fins to come outta Detroit!!!

For 1960, Cadillac more or less kept the 1959 look, but toned down the fins & body lines a little

, the last year Cadillac put "real" talifins on their cars, but they would return in the future in one form or another. It wouldn't be a Caddy without some kind of fins!!!

In 1965, Cadillac redesigned all their models (except the 70 Series limo, which still had the '64 look). 1965 set the stage for what Cadillacs would look like in the 1970's.

In 1969, Cadillac redesigned the front end of their DeVille/Fleetwood model lineup, with dual headlights mounted horizontal, not seen since 1964.

, the last year for the 1965-generation DeVille. The next generation would see the largest DeVilles ever made!!!

For 1971, Cadillac redesigned the DeVille, and in the process produced the largest, heaviest & longest DeVilles on the road, they didn't get any longer than these!!!

brought federally mandated 5mph front bumpers

brought an optional glass moonroof & the 500 V8 as an option. Optional fuel injection debuted on the 500 as well.

, the last year for the largest Coupe DeVilles on the road. I want one in the same color combo as mine, like this one.

For 1977, GM went on a downsizing binge with all their full-size cars, from the most basic Chevrolet Impala, right up to the most fully loaded Cadillac. The result was a car a foot shorter, with the same interior room as their pre-'77 brothers. Engine size in Cadillacs went down too, from 472/500 cu.in to a 7.0L 425 V8.

brought a 5.7L diesel V8 as an option, though fuel efficient, reliability was in question & owners stayed away from them into the 80's, although there are some die-hard diesel fans out there who swear by them!!!

brought a more formal-looking appearance to the DeVille lineup.

brought a 6.0L V8 which ran on 4,6 or 8 cylinders depending on driving habits. Customers complained of poor reliability & opted to have the 6.0 replaced with a 5.7L gas V8.

marked the debut of the engine that's in my '87, the 4.1L V8. In 1982, horsepower was 125, mine has a revised version with 130.

marked the last year for the rear-drive DeVille. The Fleetwood Series carried on the rear-drive torch for Cadillac, proudly doing so right up to 1996.

Cadillac downsized the DeVille, and a much smaller front-wheel drive package was the result. Though smaller, they were roomier than the previous models due to the fwd layout. a 4.1L V8 was standard & a 4.3L V6 diesel was optional, and dropped after 1985.

model with a custom gold grille.

(mine pictured) debuted aero-style headlights & revised tail-lights.

replaced the 4.1 V8 with a 4.5 putting out 155 hp.

For 1989, the DeVille was restyled to look like the rwd Brougham, especially in the rear end. Wheelbase for coupes stayed at 110.8 & the sedans went up to 113.8. Driver-side airbags became an option.

The airbag became standard issue for 1990, along with a revised 4.5 with 180hp.

brought a new grille & a 4.9 V8 with 200 hp.

was essentially a carryover year, no changes from 1991.

, the final year for the Coupe DeVille. From 1949-1993, the Coupe DeVille name was one of the most recognized (and popular) Cadillac models. Thank you for checking out this ride down memory lane, and keep cruisin' pimp-style in your own Coupe DeVille!!!
