Welcome to My Accord Type-R Page
I will continually update this page with details of any mods or new pics.
Any suggestions or advice please feel free to contact me.
Brief History of the car
I bought my ATR in mid January. Its in Silver and is a pre-facelift model with A/C, Cat 1 alarm and immobiliser, 89k on the clock, lowered by 35mm and with Honda Sat Nav.
It has all the standard ATR stuff as well with the 2.2 VTEC engine, the standard 17" Alloys, LSD, PAS, Electric Mirrors, Boot Spolier, Xenon Lights, Recaro Seats, Momo Steering Wheel and white dials.
Thanks must go to all the knowledgeable folk at Honda Revs who provided me with all the info to go out and buy the ATR and have since been supplying all the info and help i could want with any problems.

Pics
Below is the first pic taken of the ATR before being driven home. The car oozes quality for me.
Standard Accords are nothing to write home about, but the ATR has some quality tricks up its sleeves. The boot spolier for one transforms the body for me.
Another view of what most other drivers will see on the road, the rear of the car. The dual exhaust system coupled with the spolier adds to the mean looking affect.
Honda Type-R's always go that extra mile and the interior on the ATR is no exception. Here for example the White Dials transform an otherwise plain interior, and along with the recaro seats we suddenly have a sporty cabin that i think looks great.
I like my cars like my women, beautiful on the outside but with a good brain inside. The ATR is no exception. I dont fully understand the complex 2.2 VTEC engine yet but im getting there. At 5,800rpm when the VTEC kicks in it is something special.
Modifications
Feb 2005 - Im in the process of adding a custom Cold Air Intake. Ive added Aluminium Piping from the existing air filter box and removed the resonator from behind the wheel arch. The next step is to add a cold air intake pipe running from behind the bumper and run it into the area where the resonator was. I am using 2 seperate pipes due to problems others have had with it acting like a vacuum and bugs etc with them being sucked into filter. Leaving the gap will hopefully reduce this but maintain the CAI.
March 2005 - Purchased the K&N Air Filter and fitted this morning. Initial tests show improvement in both low end pickup and induction roar. Very pleased. Also completed DIY Cold Air Intake. Pics now updated
April 2005 - Ive taken off the cold air feed and replaced the standard air intake with the AEM V2 - they dont specifically do one for the ATR and so had to purchase a 92-01 Prelude one and managed to create a custom bracket to hold it. Other than that it fitted perfectly - giving one hell of a vtec roar. Also purchased some new Front Discs, OEM ones.
May - 2005 - Finally got around to purchasing some NGK Iridium Spark Plugs and some Magnecor KV85 Performance Leads. Leads do brighten up the engine bay.
I also managed to buy and fit new Mintex 1144 Front pads and EBC Redstuff rear pads. These will go nicely with the new discs i bought recently. Early indications show considerable stopping power improvement. Around the same time i had to get some new front tyres and plumped for the 215/45/17 Yoko AVS sports.
July - 2005 - Had a broken flexi pipe on my exhuast and so rather than just get replacement 2-1 pipe i splashed out and got a fully custom exhuast from the 2-1 pipe, inc de-cat pipe and twin exit tail-pipes. The pipe diameter was increased to 2.5" all the way back and a mid-sport noise was created. It sounds awesome and the increase in power is noticeable. A mod i would highly recommend on the ATR. I went for 3" tail-pipes which i think are a good size, larger than the 2" standard but not too big as to look stupid.
Also decided to do a DIY rocker cover paint. Following guide from Honda Revolutions website - it turned out very well. Made it look nice and new.
August 2005 - Fitted some manifold heat wrap. Helps drop engine bay temps and i think looks pretty cool. Can now grab the manifold even after 5-10mins driving. Not for long but the difference it will make under the bonnet will be great. I intend to use the remaining wrap to do the 2-1 pipe as well and lower temps for the oil sump.
Also this month i replaced the rear tyres with some brand new Toyo T1R's.
Other mods im looking to get:
Unichip
Tein Super Street Coilovers
Private Number Plate
Performance Cold Air Intake
Hopefully sourcing a lot of these soon as i intend to give the ATR some treats.
Recently took her to a Rolling Road and she produced some good results. Coming in at 220bhp - 11bhp over standard.
With the unichip and possibly a CAI (proven performance) im hoping to give her a final boost in power. Along with those mods im also looking to get some Tein's Dampers to improve suspension and give the option to adjust ride height.
Thanks for reading.
Will keep you posted.
