Progress Log

Purchased the Jimmy. Started going over the body and interior logging what needs to be fixed.

Work has slowed progress.
Hood's off, air cleaner and some hosing is off. Grille and maybe the radiator support will be off tonight.

Just ordered the new Syclone grille yesterday. Also just found a cool bit of info. I was watching Rides and found out what Kenny Wayne Shepards first ride was... A 1991 4-door S10 Blazer. :)

Finally! I got my truck up to Kinetik Kustomz and got started on it. We made a lot of progress today. Thanks to Pooch and Erich for all the help! See the pics below.

Things are getting frustrating. the more we tear apart the more rust we find. The entire frame is covered in it, the axles, the lower rockers... Everything. I've already spent $400 on new front fenders, new wheel wells, and a new radiator support. I won't be able to make decisions on the rest of the body until we've sanded some areas down to see what really is and isn't there. On a good note, We sanded down the first rear rocker panel and it looks like it's in good shape. Rear rockers are the hardest thing to replace.
As I've been sitting here typing this out something just occured to me. Most of the rust looks like it's been on the lower rear of the truck. The truck came with a big hitch on it... I bet the back end of this thing was dunked in a late over and over again puting a boat in the water. GRRR. I've considered having the trans checked out before throwing the V8 in. Now I'm thinking it's an even better idea.

It's funny how you can be doing a huge project and it's the little things that hold you back. One thing I've been working on hard to find a solution is how I'm going to do the tail lights. I know exactly how I want them to look. I just wasn't sure how to do it without spending TONS of money on LED lighting, buckets, lenses, etc. I finally found Street Issue Customs. They have a lot of the items I'm looking for and the prices are reasonable. I'm currently talking to them about options for some of the things I'm looking at and possible sponsorship. We'll see what we happens. If I can get the tail lights figured out it'll be a big step in the right direction.

The leaf springs aren't going anywhere right now. Hopefully we can take a torch to them in the next few weeks and get them out. I decided to start sanding down the body so I can really take a look at the sheetmetal. This is after about 3 hours of sanding.

Finally heard back from Doug from Street Issue Customs. He's going to look into having the custom led clusters built for the tail lights next week. Once I get an answer on that I'll be ordering all the led's the rollpan, and the tail light fillers from them. He said their currently not accepting new people for sponsorship. We'll see if that changes once the truck starts coming together.
