This is the truck as it stands today (10/20/08).

And here's how it got that way...
This is my project truck. It's a 2wd 1991 GMC Jimmy 4-door.

1991 was the year that GM introduced a 4-door version of the S-series SUVs. 4wd versions came standard with a 150 HP 4.3L V6 with Throttle Body Injection. 2wd version like this had it as an option.

The Problems:
Unfortunatly this V6 has bit the dust. A spun main bearing makes it sound like a diesel engine.
1st gen S-series trucks are know for their rusted rocker panels. Finding one without rust is amazing. This one has some surface rust that's starting to develop and make the paint on the lower rockers bubble.
The Solutions:
I have the option of rebuilding the V6 or installing a V8. I know I'd be kicking myself every day if I just did enough to get by. Looks like it'll be the V8! :)
As soon as I get it running I'll be taking it over to my friends at Kinetik Kustomz. I'll have everything put back in order, smoothed out, and resprayed black. In the end I think the whole thing will be blacked out.
Check back often and I'll try to keep a running log of the work I've done. Be sure to sign my guestbook too so I can see who's been here!
