My 66 442, original 4 speed A/C car...
The motovation behind the madness...I bought this 65 Olds 400 "B" block, and a 69 455 block together for $300 dollars.
I tried to abbreviate this listing, or it would be 3 pages long, and no one would read it...
I had it punched .060 over to take hypereutectic 10:1 pistons with Total Seal rings. I had the crank frozen. I am using Olds "C" heads, that are shaved to make what I am thinking to be about 11:1 compression. I threw in a crane cam, and the full Crane roller valvetrain, with the good ole double roller timing chain. I topped it with the "old school" or just plain old Offy 360* intake and Offy aluminum valve covers that I painted bronze between the ribs. On top of that is a Speed Demon 670 4BBL and the stock stle air cleaner assy with an AIRHOG filter. Ignition is a nice MSD setup with a CVR starter. I am also using an aluminum water pump and a remote tank PS pump. I'm going to finish it all off with billet pulleys and a bling bling chrome alternator.
For exhaust, I'm going with long tube headers, and 2.25 inche dual exhaust into stainless 40 series Flomasters and Eldobrock RPM intercooled tips.
I am using a blow-proof bellhousing, with a Centerforce clutch.
Tranny is the same monster it had originally, an M21 four speed. This one particular one has been rebuilt.
For a driveshaft, I lost my mind and had this aluminum piece built.
Pictures dont do it justice, this thing is FAT, but very light. It will fit fine, but my drivehaft hoop will NOT even try to clear it...
Rear end is a rebuilt GM 10 bolt 3.91 posi.
Front brakes are the BAER street/strip package, with dual piston PBR calipers.
Rear brakes are re-done factory drums. The master cylinder is a rebuilt 67 442 unit.
Supension is being re-done with new springs, polyurethane busings and WSS control arms.
Wheels are polished 15" Weld Draglites with BFG Control T/As up front and 275-50R15 BFG Comp T/A Drag radials in the rear.
Bodywork was done by Rods Autobody in the original GM Aqua.
Interior has recieved new carpet, seat cover headliner, and I finally located a decent dash pad.
UPDATE 2/26/04:
Interior has been furthermore gutted, with the column and dash removed. What a mess.
Eventually a Ididit tilt column and a very clean used dash will be installed.
