Brandon's GN

bnbaxley's 1987 Buick Grand National

Okay, so I have finally realized that the TH200-r4 transmission is a complete piece of junk.  I ordered the transmission from Bowtie Overdrives and have had nothing but problems with it.  I have decided to convert over to a TH400 (something that can actually handle the power).  Haven't had time to do much else to the car at all but I haven't given up on it.  I'm setting my goals a little further down the road.  My car will never be "legal" to drive in California with all the mods I have and parts I no longer have that are needed to pass a smog test, so I'll continue to work on it along and along.  If you are interested in how the car is coming keep checking back.  I'll try better to keep my page updated.

If your 2004R is built right it can easily take what power you are putting out. Get some info on Turbobuick.com. You car can pass emissions as well in CA. Get with Jack Cotton at Cotton's Performance on tweaking your Fast System and setting one mode for emissions, you will also need a high performance cat as well. Get a rear HR Sway Bar and you don't need the air bags (they are a pain to get working right if you don't know how to set the pressure in them to work like they are supposed to) Also unless you are doing much racing you don't need the adjustable upper control arms. If you do use them anyways, set you pinion angle to -2 degrees initially. Car looks good though. How about some pics of the engine. I don't see a hood mounted fuel pressure gauge in this pic. GN110 cam sounds good, but I found you can wipe a lobe easily with them. You need a good valve train with them. :-)
