This is our 2004 Volkswagen Touareg, Jutta. We named her after Jutta Kleinschmidt, who in 2001 became the first woman ever to win the Dakar Rally. It is our 5th VW. Please excuse the very poor quality of these photographs - our digital camera was broken so I snapped these with my Treo 650 Sprint PCS phone.
This is the best car I've ever owned! That's a big statement from someone who has owned 19 cars in 16 years. It is ultra quiet, superbly smooth and rock solid stable. We considered the name Panzer in honor of its tank-like solid feel on the road. It's like driving a vault.
We have the Bi-Xenon headlamps with the headlight washer system. Combined with the standard foglamps, it really adds to the sense of security at night. We live out in the country north of San Antonio, Texas. These lights very rarely cause anyone to object, yet throw an amazingly bright beam far down the road and help us spot deer and other animals long before we get to them.

We also had Archer Volkswagen, of Houston, TX install the factory trailer hitch and equipment. It is a very involved process that results in a beautiful, heavy duty tow system. With 7,700 towing capacity, the Touareg can do serious work. It has a 7-Pin connector with a weather-tight door just to the right of the 2" receiver. The adapter and the solid iron drawbar fit neatly into one of the storage compartments within the cargo hold.
