Here's how I brought her home, running driving completely original car! Didnt take me long to start cuttin it up! The car had WAY more rust than I had suspected...but thats how it goes!
Here I cut out the WHOLE floor from front to back, made a frame for it, and put the new quarter skins and wheel tubs in. Then I sent the body and all the extras out to the sandblaster so I could patch MORE rust holes! The rear section below the trunk was completely gone so I had to make that piece from scratch since no one has replacements for it yet.
I ended up just making all the trunk floor. You can also see the 9"Ford with the ladder bar suspension I bought from Checkered Racing. I also bought a street rod style gas tank from TANKS and mounted it in the trunk, no tank hangin underneath and still have plenty of trunk space!
I bought my front subframe from Checkered Racing also, pretty nice front end for the $$$, just needs alittle more fab'n than the other companies. I cut out the wiper hump on the firewall to make extra clearance for the Big Block, also filled in the cowl louver's.
I moved the wiper motor under the dash, works pretty slick! The motor is an industrial type motor.
The dash has been completely welded up and I made the gauge "pods" out of elect. conduit. The radio is going to be placed in the console, which is a 92 grand am unit, the seats in the pic are from a newer cavalier, I've actually got a new set of 04 grand prix charcoal greay front and rear seats that I'll be installing next! You can also see the IDIDIT tilt column. Not sure what I'm doin with the back seat yet??
The engine is a pretty healthy 454 w/ 10.5:1 comp, ported alum. heads, roller comp cam and lotta other goodies...I'm estimating the HP should be between 500-520?!? 400 turbo with a 3000 stall and 9" with 355 gears. I bought a set of headers for a 63 corvette and cut em up to fit, not alot of companies make headers for the early nova with a Big Block, and the ones that do were over my budget! Also there is a HOWE universal alum. radiator with (2) 10" elect. fans.
My friend came over and helped me make a full 3" exhaust with x-pipe. The mufflers are Dynatech's....LOUD! I'm pretty happy with how it came out!
I'm using Chassisworks fender braces and I'm going to make the rest of the inner panels myself. Also got me a Goodmark steel cowl hood, It actually fit PERFECT! Just had my fenders blasted and started weldin up all the holes.
Well with all the new panels, patchin, weldin, cuttin done....I think, heres how she sits, just startin the body work so I'll be addin some pics soon...
Here's a few misc. pics
