Hello
Through 2004 I collected five 1st gen. Accord in various conditions. This is my best one, a 1981 Hatch, called No. 4, together with my 1965 Eriba caravan.
The reason why Im a 1st gen. Accord enthusiast is simple, it was my first car, which I drove all through the 80s. Of course, the whole story is a litte longer, youll find it on page 2.
???
Before countinuing, I have a question.
I think most 1st gen. Accord enthusiasts knows this page:
hubcap.clemson.edu/~wstef
I'm a little astonished, that theres no update since 2001 and e-mails wont be replied. Is there anyone who knows soth. about W. Gregg Stefancik? Or about Justin Hall, Penny / Wishbone or Wendy Waits, who are mentioned as Accord owners on that page?

No.4
I bought this Hatch in June 2004 in Berlin.
To this time I owned already three 1st gen. Accord, but all of them needs much work and Ive planned to fix them over the next years.
So I was very happy, as this car was offered in wonderful rust free condition, particular it was absolutely street legal and I could drive it immediately. But driving home to Bremen, the cylinder head gasket turns out to be leak. So I drove very slow and carefully, all the 400km.
Ok, no problem, to change the head gasket is a work of two or three days (it depends if the head needs to be resurfaced), but can you imagine how I was shocked, as the spare dealer told me, that it needs more than eight weeks to deliver a new gasket? No spare no repair
So I decided to do the repairs later and, as first aid, I fitted the engine of Accord No. 2 into No. 4.
Taking out the engine.
183t km but still running. This dirty hell machine I fitted to Accord No.4, after checking the timing belt.
Carefully fitting the replacement.
No, Im not Taliban! It was a very hot day and the head- band is against the sweat.
Fitting the engine mount and the driving shafts.
It was a very special problem to get a (street legal) trailer hitch. This used one I bought together with Accord No. 3.
Of course its got new paint.
After finishing these works in early Aug. 2004, I visited several classic car gatherings till Sep. and enjoyd about 2000 km with this wonderful car. This Hatch I use for sunshine driving only, but the next one, No. 5, is already waiting to be fixed as daily driver.
Here Im visiting Mr. Korbmacher and his marvellous classic Honda collection, Sep. 19. 2004. / Z600
