92CamaroLS1's 1992 Chevrolet Camaro
This is my the 92 Camaro RS with a 98 LS1 and 4l60E swapped in. I have been doing this swap for the past 9 months or so(im at college so its taking a little longer than I expected), and I am getting very close to being finished. I finially fired it up a few weeks ago and it has been starting consistantly and running rather well so far. Me and my friends have been doing all the work on it, and all of us are 18 and 19 years old. I did get some outside help from a mechanic to solve some electrical problems, and a ton of troubleshooting help from people on LS1tech.com and thirdgen.org.

04-02-07: UPDATE!!!!!

Well I almost completely forgot I had this site. So I thought I would update it seeing as its been almost 2 years (cant believe it). The car is doing well, but sitting a lot these days due to professional school application process. This summer I plan on doing a little more work to it just to get it exactly where I want it to be(if time allows). Mainly little stuff like PS cooler, fix a few bugs on the front end. Since I last updated I now have coil-overs from Spohn...very well made, I just need to do some tweaking. Probably a bunch of other new things, just cant remember off the top of my head I took a bunch of new pics a couple weeks ago , hopefully I can post them up soon. Thanks for lookin.

05-06-05:
Well I have had the radiator and transcooler hooked up, and All the front suspension is on. I still need to put on the brake pads and calipers on the front, and fab up some brake lines for the back brakes. I sent my guage cluster out back to Speartch (who modified my wiring harness) to check out and see if there is any damage. Then I just have to tighten down my torque arm, make sure all the guages work correctly, finish the brakes, and install my longtubes and shes ready for a test drive...straight to the exahust shop to get a y-pipe made, then straight to the alignment shop.

03-20-05:
I still have to finish putting on the front suspension and brakes and hook up the radiator/transcooler, and a few other small things before I can get the thing moving.

This Is before I cleaned up some of the wiring:

This is my 92 Camaro RS before the swap a few years ago. In general a real clean car, I bought it for 2500, got a great deal on it. It had around 87k miles when I bought it and about 100k miles when I pulled the 305 TBI. The exterior is pretty much the same now except its a really dusty right now and it has a couple more dents and scratches that its gotten during the past 9 months with the motor swap and all.

Another pic from the rear before the swap, and when I had short hair.

Me(right) and my friend Erik whos helped me out a shit load on swap day.

Not really sure why I have this pic?

Erik trying to get at the crossmember, it must have been hard or something, I dont remember it being that bad.

This is when we dropped the motor in the first time. We had a hell of a time getting the mounts to drop into the tubular kmembers mounts and we had to drill those holes open for weeks in a tight space with no success. We decided to pull the motor again and take out the k-member and open up the mount holes more, bolt up the kmember again and dropped the motor back in...we got that done in like 1.5 hours.

A closeup of the motor in the engine bay, this is before I did all of the wiring and a bunch of other little things.

Interior pic before the swap, not much different now, but a new dashpad.

This is a quick photochop of my car with some chrome ZR1's that I would like to get fo the car, who knows when that will come...

Hey, awesome job on the car. I'm thinking of doing the LS1 swap on my RS as well but it seems a bit outta my price range... There's gotta be a way to get it done for lees than 10-11 grand... How much of a difference has it made in the way the car drives???
