Maintenance
Oil & filter change... I did my first oil change after my first 3000 miles. www.Miata.net was another big help. In its garage section it had good ideas with great little tips that made this job easier. They did suggest getting to the oil filter through the right wheel well, but I was able to get at it from the top(barely).
Scheduled Maintenance...I have read many(and I mean many) message boards, articles, and opinions on Miata maintenance. The one concept that makes the most sense to me is to do the scheduled maintenance when you are supposed to do it. Pede told be that these cars can last over 200,000 miles if you take care of them. I have a neighbor that is the second owner of a 91 miata that has 186,000 miles on the clock and it runs great. My favorite website with tons of information is www.Miata.net This website has a many sections including: performance, autocrossing, wheels, garage, handling, etc... The garage section helped me with some of the basics. Here they are...
1. Oil and filter every 3K.
2. Rotate tires every 6K.
3. Wheel alignment every 15K.
4. Air filter every 15K.
5. Spark plugs every 15K.
6. Timing belt every 60K.
There are other things to check for in the maintenance department, but these are some of the basics.
