Engine - Clutch - Exhaust
You probably noticed a couple of different engines in the car throughout the buildup. The first is a "slug" from the junkyard to help in positioning of the chassis and other hang on parts.
The real motor that went into this car is descent, but pretty basic. It is a 383 built by Challenger Racing in Phoenix. I have had good luck with them in the past and this motor is no exception. Here is a pic of the motor in original form as it came out of a test mule car...

After the stint in the test mule, there was a cam change and some general freshening up of the bearings etc... The only other real addition was a swap to the new Air Gap intake.

One of the tricks I have used in the past and wanted for this car was to use a button clutch. The advantage is light weight and lower moment of inertia. The button type clutches are multi disc (similar to a motorcycle clutch) which gives them a bit of an advantage in surface area. The one in this car is a 7.25" from Quartermaster.

The engine is mated with a Muncie 4 speed trans. Basic, but gets the job done.

The exhaust is very neat. From the collectors back it is all oval. There is a merge just before the muffler rig and at the exit, there is a taper down to 1" X 10" (about like a boom tube on an LMS or cup car)
