I bought this Volvo in late November 2004 for $500(aus) its the best car ever, apart from a few problems.
These are the things that I've had to fix:
- Replaced two of the fan belts as one was freying (About $18)
- Replaced the alternator at about 320,000kms ($30 second hand)
- Replaced the cluster with one that has a Revs guage on it ($20 second hand). The only problen with the new one is that it now says 350,000kms on it, couldnt work out how to wind it back.
- Added a clock on the little "clock space" on the dash, but we wired it wrong and it isnt connected to constant power so its basically useless. You kinda have to set it every time you start the car.
- Changed a whole bunch or light bulbs around the car.
These are the things that I still have to fix
- Power steering leak.
- AC conversion and re-gas.
- Shocks, bushes, ect.
- Wheel alignment.
- Engine mounts.
- Engine wiring lume (the wires that lead to the fuel injection computer)
The whole left side has dents and scratches down it. But i recently did a crappy repsray down the side with some touch-up paint which was a "close enough" match.
Three out of four seatbelts dont work properly ( mine's fine). The two on the left always lock up and the one behind the drivers seat doesnt retract. I thought that having a bigger car would make my frinds would wanna ride with me but they hate my seatbelts! Why?!
The stereo i put in this car cost almost as much as the car cost. I got a VDO Dayton Stereo system 'cos i figured I'd get a Swiss-made stereo for a Swedish car.
I love this car, and its a big change from my last car, a 1975 2speed Corolla (the slowest car in the world).
Here's some more pics of The Volvo...
