Here you can see my home-brew gap guards. I made them out of rubber roofing material by tracing the outline of the old splashguards and adding 2-3" at the bottom to compensate for the lift. The material was scrap from a roofing company (free), and only cost me a few bucks for new trim retainer clips from a parts store. So far they've held up well and look great, especially for the price. I've also sprayed chainsaw grease on the frame to halt any rust that was starting, and help prevent any new patches from developing.

I pondered the body lift for a long time before I decided to go ahead with it. My #1 hangup was the Chevy syndrome..having a ton of frame show after lifting! As this pic will demonstrate, a 2" lift on a '87-'96 Dakota isn't displeasing to the eye, showing less frame than stock GM 4x4's.

Here's a shot of the flares on the front. They look really good, fit pretty well and were easy to install (you can clip or screw them on, I did half and half for the best fit). The coverage is greater than the factory's flares (that I never had..), but isn't super wide like the Bushwacker flares. The ouside edge is about the same width as the shoulder of the tire, so about as perfect as you can get if you ask me. A hell of a deal if you ask me, they were $150 shipped for the set from a vendor on eBay. The 31's clear the lower rear of the fender, but it's close. I could go to 32's with a little trimming but I got a SUPER deal on these 31's so that decided that.

Here's the relocated IAT sensor (Intake Air Temperature). I put it in the relocated position when it's hot out, and throttle response seems to improve. When it starts dipping below 40 I take 30 seconds and move it back to the intake manifold, seems to run a lot better in freezing weather with it back in the stock location.
